FAQ SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT FUND 2016

FAQ
SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT FUND 2016-2017
1. Will you fund programs or initiatives that cover more than one stage from
the Long Term Athlete Development model (LTAD)?
The CPC Grants Team will fund projects that cover more than one stage of the LTAD.
Please be specific as possible when you describe the LTAD stages and be sure to
include only those that apply to the program you seeking funding for.
2. If I apply for the maximum grant amount ($10K), are my chances better
to at least receive a portion of what I asked for?
Due to the high demand for funding and limited funds, applications will be reviewed
based on their overall merit. Applicants are encouraged to be concise with their
budgets and only apply for appropriate levels of funding relative to the project
concept and industry standard. Applications with budgets in excess of the project
concept and industry standard will not have their budgets adjusted to be approved.
Preference will also be given to applicants who include matching funds to enhance
their overall program.
3. Should I attach additional supporting documents such as letters of
support from my partners?
No. Applicants should complete their core organizational information in the online
application form. You should attach only your application form and either a financial
statement summary from the most recently completed operational year, or a letter
of endorsement from your organization’s financial representative. No additional
documentation is needed.
4. Can I submit more than one application from one organization?
You may submit multiple applications from one organization as long as each
submission is for a different sport. For example, if your organization manages two
different para-sports, you may submit an application for each sport. There is no
guarantee that each sport will be funded due to the large number of applicants.
5. It’s generally known that it can be hard for kids with disabilities to access
quality sport experiences, sometimes due to the costs involved. Are my
chances better if I submit an application that targets children’s
programming?
1
CPC understands the importance of ensuring children with disabilities have access to
quality sport programming and realizes costs can be a barrier. Our partnership with
the Canadian Tire JumpStart fund provides additional funding specific to initiatives
for kids. If your initiative is solely for children aged 4-18 who may experience
financial disadvantage, we suggest applying to the JumpStart funding at:
http://paralympic.ca/jumpstart
6. Can organizations/programs that offer non-Paralympic sports still apply
for the System Development Fund?
There are no specific restrictions on non-Paralympic sports, however strong
preference will be given to sports on the Paralympic program. A complete list of
Paralympic sports can be found at: http://paralympic.ca/paralympic-sport
7. If I was a grant recipient in previous years, can I still apply for the 20162017 System Development Fund?
Anyone can apply for the 2016-2017 System Development Fund, but preference will
be given to applications that include sustainable and quality programs that meet the
stated eligibility criteria. If your program has been funded multiple times in the last
five years, consider how your program can evolve and build in a strong financial case
for support.
Grants are not designed to provide long-term or on-going support for programs.
Unless an application is for an entirely new programming direction, applications from
organizations that have received 3 or more CPC grants in the past 5 years will be
considered less favourably than applications from organizations that have not
previously been funded.
Additionally, any previous funding recipients with outstanding reports owed to the
CPC are NOT eligible for funding in 2016-17. If you are unsure of the status of your
previous grants, please email [email protected].
8. What is the review process for applications?
Each application will be reviewed by multiple reviewers including representatives
from NSOs, CPC staff, and the CPC Paralympic Development Committee members all
of whom have expertise and knowledge of the Paralympic development system. A
more detailed review process is included in the System Development Fund Guidelines
document available at www.paralympic.ca/funding
Reviewers will assess applications based on 1) alignment with CPC’s overall strategy
and 2) how well the initiative supports the LTAD framework. Applicants are
encouraged to share their application with their respective NSO or PSO prior to
submitting and review the CPC’s strategic framework at:
http://paralympic.ca/reports-and-publications
2
Please note that applications that are incomplete or applicants that have outstanding
grants will not be funded. Please contact the Grants Team as early as possible if you
are unsure of your status.
9. Are there other funding opportunities available through the CPC?
The System Development Fund is the main development fund offered by the
Canadian Paralympic Committee at this time. Any new funding opportunities will be
promoted at www.paralympic.ca/funding.
CPC is also a partner of Canadian Tire Jumpstart and helps support the Parasport
Jumpstart Fund which gives funds to support the costs of sports and recreational
programs for children between the ages of 4 and 18 who are financially
disadvantaged and living with a disability. For more information on how to apply for
the Parasport Jumpstart Fund visit, http://paralympic.ca/jumpstart
