Previous model of Gener8
Introduction
IIUM gener8 is a vehicle that was invented
on 2010 by students of IIUM mainly to
participate in Shell Eco Marathon on the
year. Recently, students is trying to improvise
the car system and achievement in order to
work in final year project research.
Objectives
The objective of this project is to optimize
the vehicle chassis weight and give a better
structure performance on the chassis regard
handling and safety standards.
Abstract
Gener8 car previously was using the
gasoline engine. The chassis structure is
redesign in order to fit with new electric
motor system. The main load on the chassis
are batteries, passenger and motor.
Process and Result
Procedure
1. Literature review on common chassis model, topology
optimization, bending moment and torsional loads
concept.
2. Refer to current model of chassis and measure the size,
distance for chassis structure and applied force.
3. Draw basic model in block size and apply the load analysis
to the block by using STi Inspired.
4. Complete the topology output from STi Inspired by redraw
in STi Evolve.
Conclusion
The usage of STi Inspired has improved the basic
structure of the chassis. Load is distributed fairly
and the material used can be lessen due to the
the analysis made. The time taken in progressing
chassis design also less as STi Inspired had provide
the idea and shape that needed for applied load.
