SWEDEN TRIP FOR 2000 BIRTH YEAR PLAYERS Dear 2000 Atlantic District Player: As you know from the recent email detailing the entire 2014 program, we have been offered a special opportunity for our 2000 born players from Brynas, which is the name of the professional team from Gavle, Sweden of the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation. 2000 born Atlantic District Players, who are selected, will be given the OPTION to travel to Gavle, Sweden (2 hours north of Stockholm) to TRAIN and COMPETE with Swedish players and coaches for seven days. This is a voluntary trip and we will bring a maximum of 40 and a minimum of 20 players with us from August 13-20. The camp will take place at the home of the Brynas Hockey Federation, Lakerol Arena. This will be an all-inclusive trip, including round trip airfare, first-class hotel accommodations, 3 meals per day, ice-time at their world-class facility, and a dedicated bus while for the duration of the trip. We have three coaches from the US, John Riley, John Dinorcia & Patrik Hansson (who grew up playing for Brynas) along with two team leaders who will travel with the group. In addition, Brynas youth, Junior and professional coaches will partake in our training. This will be a fantastic cooperative effort. Brynas is a suburb of Gavle, a town about 2 hours north of Stockholm with a population of app 90,000. Brynas is one of the oldest and most renowned professional clubs in Sweden and they have had tremendous success producing NHL and domestic national team talent. NHL players like Niklas Backstrom, Jakob Silferberg, Andreas Dackell, Anders Markstrom, Anders Lindbaek, Tomas Sandstroem, Andreas Johansson, Mats Naslund, Borje Salming and many more all came from this hockey hot bed. Brynas is at the forefront of developing young Swedish players.
