• The objectives of this first session are to:

– Learn about the best ways to understand and
enjoy school work; become more successful at
school and in later life

We are now starting the CHALLENGE!
The Challenge will test your various learning styles
There is a PRIZE for the best team
Our classroom teacher will be the JUDGE!

• The first part of the CHALLENGE will test your teams
AUDITORY learning style
• You will be given one sheet of A4 to write your
answers down after I have read you a short passage
• No Cheating – you will lose all of your points
• I will now read the passage – listen carefully as I will
say this only once!

• You will now be given one sheet of A4 to write your
answers down
• Write your team name on the sheet
• Don’t shout out your answers – other teams will hear
• I will now read the questions – listen carefully as I
will read these only once!

• The second part of the CHALLENGE will test your
teams VISUAL learning style
• You will be given a map of Langdon’s Island to
memorise. You will be given 5 minutes – work as a
team.
• No Cheating – you will lose all of your points
• Don’t turn the map over until I say – this will give
every team the same chance

• You will now be given one sheet of A4 and coloured
pencils to draw your map
• Write your team name on the map
• Don’t cheat by looking at other teams
• You have 10 minutes

• The third part of the CHALLENGE will test your teams
KINAESTHETIC learning style
• You will be given a newspaper and a roll of ‘sellotape’ to
produce a TOWER where a rescue helicopter will land.
You will have 15 minutes - work as a team.
• The winning team will have the tallest tower capable for
the helicopter (aka my mobile phone!) to land safely.
• You also need to say where you would LOCATE your
tower
