INSET DAY
Harvest Festival
Don’t forget that this Friday, 10thOctober, the children will be holding a Harvest
Festival assembly at School.
As per our letter sent home on 25th September, anyone wishing to donate for the
Christchurch Food Bank should bring their gifts in on Friday morning with their
child. Thank you!
Morning Arrangements
Please remember that the playground is not supervised before 8:45am and it is not safe to
leave your children before then. If you arrive earlier than this, please wait with your child
until Mr Sheret comes out to the playground.
From 8.45am onwards, all children can enter the school to get ready for the day. Once they
have done this, they can play outside for a few minutes if they wish. The school bell rings at
8.55am and this is the signal to come inside.
The official start time is 9.00am and this is when the side gates are locked. Children arriving
after 9.00am are late and must enter through the office entrance and notify the office staff
of their arrival.
Violent Video Games
Further to my recent rant about this and I am sorry to nag, but, the following games are ones
we hear about from the children from time to time:
Grand Theft Auto, Medal of Honour, Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed – Brotherhood and Halo
Reach.
Whilst, initially, they may appear harmless, all these have violent, nasty and sometimes sexual
themes and are certainly not suitable for children of primary school age.
POPPY APPEAL
We will be selling poppies at school from the w/c 20th October. In addition, this year, the
appeal are offering the following items:
Friendship bracelets – various colours £ 1.00
Flexi Rulers – various colours
£ 1.00
Wristbands – various colours
£ 1.00
Bugs
50p
Tattoo- pack of ten
50p
Hair clips – various colours
50p
Pencils – various colours
50p
Erasers
50p
Reflective Tag
50p
These will be available for your child to purchase at break time if they wish.
Germs & Illness
It may not surprise you but children are “Super Spreaders” of germs! We do seem to have
a lot of colds and bugs going around and we will be talking to our children about washing
hands thoroughly and using tissues to contain germs.
If parents could reinforce this message at home I am sure it would help improve everyone’s
health this winter. Proper hand washing with soap is proven to reduce illness. We find
many children need reminding that this involves more than a quick splash of water!
COATS, HATS & GLOVES
Turn Up For Fun – TUFF
Please ensure that your child has their coat
and, as the weather turns colder, their hat and
gloves in school every day. The children do go
out to play in the cold and we need them to be
wrapped up warm. Don’t forget to label
everything clearly to avoid them being lost.
Play, Fun and Learning for Families in
the Avon Valley!
TUFF will be running all sorts of
activities for children in our area over
the October half term along with the
Forest Arts Forum as well as parenting
sessions and activities running up to
Christmas.

Please Drive Carefully!
We would like to remind you all to drive carefully and courteously when travelling to and
from school. The lanes surrounding the school are all very narrow and with the high hedge
rows, really do require extra consideration to ensure there are no accidents. It is easy in
our busy lives to forget to take the time to slow down and stay safe. Please drive carefully!
Thank you.
