Bowview U14A Synpe- Write Up

Hello Friends First
I’d first like to say how much I love this idea and that although we started this with
the potential to win money for our team it became way more than that.
I want to share with you how wonderful these girls are, they were super excited
to be involved in this and had many ideas. We accomplished 3 but will continue
after Christmas.
The 3 videos will be given to Kathy Leonard on a USB stick.
1. Our first initiative was to invite South Calgary to join us in dry land training, We
started our dry land with some quick get to know you games" Fast Friends", did
some competitive exercise challenges then moved into mission impossible.
They shared their Best Friends Closet initiative with us, we donated to their
cause. We wrapped up our evening with an exchange of “true colours”, we gave
them a ribbon and a compliment and another ribbon to give out at school and pay
the compliment forward.
We also had cookies and cupcakes brought by both teams a lot of fun was had.
2. We planned and lead a practice for a U7 and U9 team. The girls planned out
their stations and took the lead out on the ice. We did some fun games together
as well. The Synpe players did a fantastic job instructing and running the
practice. Everyone benefited from this!! Leaders and future coaches were
developed as well as the skills and attitudes of the players. We received a lot of
positive feedback from this. We were asked if we would do this for a U 10 team
so we will be running an ice time for U10 after Christmas.
Parents and players complimented and praised our girls. ( they were amazed
our girls would get up to be at the 7am ice time)
an email from a U9 parent:
I wanted to mention that Morgan really liked the session on Saturday morning. She said
it was tiring but didn't want it to end. Please pass the feedback along the the U14 coach
so she can let her players know. Great job!
We were very proud of our players!!!
3. After coaching the younger players we headed to a teammates house and
had a team breakfast and put together boxes for flood victims that lost all
their christmas decorations. The girls danced and sang while they wrapped.
We delivered the boxes and received a thank you over face book with
pictures of the boxes we wrapped and how much they appreciated what we
did.
Thanks Friends First!!
