BRP Collection – Frequently Asked Questions 1. What should I do if I cannot collect my BRP within 10 days of my arrival in the UK? You must collect your BRP within 10 days of your arrival in the UK. Failure to do this may result in a penalty or your leave being cancelled. 2. What do I need to bring with me to collect my BRP? You will need to bring your current passport or travel document with your vignette when you collect your BRP. If you can bring your decision letter with you as well, this will make the process of finding your BRP quicker and easier. 3. What should I do if I lose any of the evidence I need to collect my BRP? Send an email to [email protected]. If you have lost your decision letter and do not know where you are supposed to collect your BRP from, include the following details in your email: Your full name, date of birth and nationality Your passport number A phone number you can be contacted on Your case reference number If you have lost your passport or travel document, include the above details in your email along with: Your UK residential address and phone number The date you reported the loss or theft to the police How you lost your document The Home Office, who will tell you what to do next, will then contact you within 5 days. 4. How do I know whether or not my BRP has arrived to collect? If you asked for your BRP to be sent to Coventry University to collect, you can check the website http://www.coventry.ac.uk/international-students-hub/new-students/coming-tothe-uk/your-visa/tier-4-visa/biometric-residence-permit/: to see whether or not it is available for you to collect. If you have asked for your BRP to be sent to the local Post Office, you will need to go in person to ask for your card. If it has not arrived within 10 days, please see the question below. 5. My BRP has not arrived. What should I do? If you went to collect your BRP and it was not there, send an email to [email protected], including the following details: Your full name, date of birth and nationality Your passport number Your case reference number A phone number you can be contacted on The collection point you tried to collect your BRP from If you applied for your BRP from within the UK, include the above details but give your delivery address instead of the BRP collection point. 6. Can I get a friend to pick up my BRP for me? Not usually. You may only nominate someone else to collect your BRP if you have a serious illness or disability which prevents you from being able to collect it yourself or if you are under 18. These applicants should follow the nomination procedure below. 7. I am under 18 years of age; how do I collect my BRP? Before you collect your BRP you must meet with an International Student Adviser and our Compliance Team. You should have received an e-mail explaining this. If not, please come to the Student Centre for this appointment before you enrol. Then, if your BRP has been delivered to the Student Centre you will be able to collect it. If it has been delivered elsewhere, you will need to send an email to [email protected], explaining that you are nominating someone to collect your BRP on your behalf. In this email you must include: Your full name, date of birth and nationality Your passport number Your vignette reference number (located in red in the top right-hand corner of your visa) A contact telephone number Why you cannot collect the BRP yourself You will also need to include the following details about the person you have chosen to collect the BRP: Full name, date of birth and nationality Email address The type of document they will use to prove their identity The reference number of their proof of identity document The expiry date of their proof of identity document Your nominee can prove their identity with a passport, a UK-issued photo-card driving licence (UK citizens only), a European identity card (European citizens only), or their own UKissued BRP. If you do not have a suitable nominee in the UK you can ask at the Student Centre for an International Student Adviser to act for you. 8. Can I collect the BRPs of my dependants on their behalf? Yes. If you are part of a family group, which has travelled to the UK together, all the BRPs belonging to that family can be collected together. The person collecting them does not need to be the main applicant, but must be over 18 years of age and be part of the family group (applicant or dependant). They must present the travel documents and vignettes of everyone whose BRP they wish to collect. 9. I have arranged for my BRP to be delivered to a Post Office. Can I change this so that I can pick it up from the Student Centre? No. 10. I have arranged for my BRP to be delivered to a Post Office. Can I change this to pick it up from a different Post Office branch? Yes. Firstly, make sure that the branch you intend to collect your BRP from offers this service, using www.postoffice.co.uk/branch-finder. If the service is available, contact the branch so that they can organise the change. You will need to tell them which branch you were originally supposed to collect your BRP from. You will need to pay a fee for each BRP you wish to collect from a different branch. 11. I don’t know which Post Office branch to collect my BRP from. What should I do? This information will be in your decision letter. If you have lost your decision letter, send an email to [email protected], including the following details: Your full name, date of birth and nationality Your passport number A phone number you can be contacted on Your case reference number 12. What should I do once I have collected my BRP? You should come to the Student Centre to enrol on your programme of study as soon as possible. You can find the dates and times of enrolment on the University website http://www.coventry.ac.uk/international-students-hub/new-students/september-2015-prearrival-information/enrolment/. You cannot enrol until you have collected your BRP. 13. What if there is an error in the information on my BRP? If you think that there is an error in the details on your BRP, concerning either your personal details or your length or conditions of leave, email [email protected] within 10 working days of receiving your BRP, including details of the problem and the following details: Your full name, date of birth and nationality Your passport number, BRP reference number and case reference number A phone number you can be contacted on
