PGES Principal’s Advisory Council Agenda February 1, 2017 In Attendance: Kristen Brown, Andrea Laycock, Elaine Bailey-Fryd, Janet Hall, Morgan Nance, Alisha Erickson, Keisha Brown, Millard Smith, Jan Burgess, Shannon Ward, Sandy Ball, Mickey Rybiski, Jimena Stovall Meeting called to order-Yes by many voices Review of Minutes: Minutes were approved. There was an error in the data reports from our last meeting that Erickson corrected. School News K– Scores are looking great, watching playground get put in, early learning model-portfolio model to assess students and teachers will be evaluated from this criteria (35%). 1st- Timelines of our lives. Data meeting-groups changing. Accuracy in reading rates have gone up. 2—Five students graduate from intervention groups and joining reading clubs. Writing seems to be enjoyed by all in second grade. Data meeting indicates we are doing the right things b/c we are showing improvements. 3- Really into fractions. Data meeting showed us to look deeper into the content of the test and we found that the area of need was fractions which we have not begun to teach yet. Getting ready to go see a play and all students are going to dress-up for the event. We are also studying rocks in science. 4- Related the data from current testing. Groups are fluidly developing and changing with data. RA- Frist art work featured for our school. Poetry is also being focused on. SPED- Data from student’s test was looked at and data also indicates fractions will be a focus. Support- Huge amount of work from holidays and Kids on the Block coming soon. Parent News: Nothing to report at this time Principal’s Update: Sidewalk update- approved. District capital improvement will help pay for this. We will also get signs and a crosswalk once the sidewalk is installed. Crossing guard worker was brought up due to their abilities. Proper guard is now in place. Ball asked about the traffic on back road because students are now playing on the track area. 17-18 Meet and Greet- Aug. 8 3:30-6:30-Will take place this next school year. PTO Update: Thank you to administration for Father Daughter Dance it was a great success. Mother Son Kick Ball Tournament will be upcoming. Committee chair retention will be coming up soon. Younger families need to be encouraged to attend PTO activities. Mrs. Stovall thinks it is a good idea although directly calling it “manners” may have some push-back. Others joined in and said it is respectful to do so. Lots of conversation took place around the table. Approved to start next year. Fundraising Initiative- Mrs. Erickson passed out list from grade levels. Mrs. Laycock brought up fact about needing another gym for P.E. teachers. Mrs. Erickson said they are presenting a formal request to the board on this matter. PTO would like to see a school store on both ends of the school. Start with 2-3 thousand dollars for each store. A motion was made for the two teachers who do not need Promeathean Boards to get them. All agreed. Agreement for promethean board purchases was approved. Technology is second for students (Chrome Books). Third-Rugs, Fourthtrack.
