TIMELY WARNING: AUTO THEFT/BURGLARIES This information is being released in accordance with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The Clery Act requires all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information about crime on and near their respective campuses, including timely warnings of crimes that may represent a threat to the safety of students or employees. Incident Location: NORTH MIAMI BEACH CAMPUS‐ Parking Garage Reported to NSU Public Safety: Friday/9‐16‐16/11:58 AM Time Occurred: Friday/09‐16‐16/11:50 AM INCIDENT: A NSU employee’s vehicle was stolen from the 2nd floor of the NSU parking garage on the North Miami Campus. Three additional vehicles were reported to have been burglarized during the same time period. The North Miami Beach Police Department and the NSU Public Safety Department are investigating these crimes. CRIME PREVENTION: HOW TO PROTECT YOUR CAR Many auto thefts are crimes of "opportunity". Leaving the keys in your car (even a "hidden" spare key) greatly increases your chances of having your car stolen. Don't leave your keys in your car. Close your windows and lock your doors whenever you leave your car, regardless of how long you plan to be gone. Park in well‐lit areas. Do not leave valuables and packages in your car.
