ISAIAH 52-53
INTRODUCTION
The Prophet Isaiah is often referred to as the Messianic Prophet
because of his numerous references to Jesus. If there were one or two
prophetic statements made concerning Christ, this would be remarkable.
The astonishing thing is this: there are at least 20 messianic prophetic
statements made by Isaiah that actually came to pass (see chart on
page 4).
Isaiah 52:7
How lovely on the mountains
Are the feet of him who
brings good news,
Who announces peace
And brings good news of
happiness,
Who announces salvation,
And says to Zion, “Your God
reigns!”
For a prophetic statement to be considered true it has to actually be
fulfilled. Only God gives true prophecy. It is His Word that He places

ACCURACY OF PROPHECY

Jesus entered the locked room where the Disciples were and said, many nations,
“Peace be with you” (Luke 24:36). In a few days He would stand upon Kings will shut their mouths
a mountain and ascend into Heaven with the same Disciples looking on account of Him;
on commissioning them to share the Good News (Matthew 28:16-20). For what had not been told
The Prophet Isaiah declared the marred feet of Jesus would stand them they will see,
upon the mountain and proclaim the Gospel!
And what they had not heard
they will understand.
But what of Jesus’ suffering, death and resurrection? Isaiah speaks of
Jesus prospering and being highly exalted (vs. 13). How is it that Isaiah Isaiah 53:1-2
speaks of prospering, and in the next statement speak of Him being Who has believed our

Him,
GOD’S PLEASURE
The body of Christ was literally “crushed” and mangled to the
point of being unrecognizable as a human being. When we
arrive at verse 10, Isaiah declares something rather strange:
But the Lord was pleased
To crush Him, putting Him to grief;
If He would render Himself as a guilt offering,
He will see His offspring,
He will prolong His days,
And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.
In order for Jesus to be sprinkled to many nations (52:15) it
was necessary for God to allow Jesus to be crushed. He became
the Levitical guilt offering for us, His offspring and His bride.
The pleasure God took was not in the crushing; but God’s pleasure
was in the offering, and in the knowledge that Jesus would
see His offspring, the Church, after His resurrection. God’s
pleasure was that He would enjoy an everlasting relationship
with us as His worshippers. God’s pleasure was in the knowledge
of His Son being presented with the Bride (the Church) in
times coming which only the Father knows.
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of
heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone” (Matthew 24:36).
What this means for you and for me is that we are in Bridepreparation-mode. Our reality must include every careful step
of ironing and spot-removal. We are His Bride!
FACTOR
POINTS
He’s Here – Worship: God never leaves and never forsakes.
Rather, His Word declares His great love for us. Love Him as
a bride loves a groom: with intimacy and reverence.
He knows- Learn: Father knows all. He knows the beginning
and the ending, and shall bring all things He has said to
pass. Trust Him.
He’s Able – Serve: Say what God says, and you will see what
He sees. Share your story as HIS-story.
Isaiah 53
3
He was despised and forsaken of men,
A man of sorrows and acquainted with
grief;
And like one from whom men hide their
face
He was despised, and we did not
esteem Him.
4
Surely our griefs He Himself bore,
And our sorrows He carried;
Yet we ourselves esteemed Him
stricken,
Smitten of God, and afflicted.
5
But He was pierced through for our
transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The chastening for our well-being fell
upon Him,
And by His scourging we are healed.
6
All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the Lord has caused the iniquity of
us all
To fall on Him.
7
He was oppressed and He was
afflicted,
Yet He did not open His mouth;
Like a lamb that is led to slaughter,
And like a sheep that is silent before its
shearers,
So He did not open His mouth.
8
By oppression and judgment He was
taken away;
And as for His generation, who
considered
That He was cut off out of the land of
the living
For the transgression of my people, to
whom the stroke was due?
9
His grave was assigned with wicked
men,
Yet He was with a rich man in His death,
Because He had done no violence,
Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.
