INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF YOUR COTTON ROPE HAMMOCK (DOUBLE) 272-2780 INSTALLATION AND USAGE Your Cotton rope hammock is ready for use. It may be hung between two secure upright posts or trees, or it may be used with a hammock stand (However, this set does not include hammock stand). If using a stand, please review safe weight limits on both the hammock and stand. A simple stand can be constructed by setting two weather treated 8 foot long 4” x 4” fence posts in concrete at least 15 feet apart. When you set the fence posts, put them in a 3 foot deep post hole, and then insert the posts. You may also use existing porch or patio uprights as supports. Have an expert check if they are secure and able to support the weight you intend to put in the hammock. To secure hammock to the anchor points, either purchase a screw in hook to put in post or tree straps to tie around trees. We recommend that your hammock be kept in a dry environment to avoid the occurrence of mildew. If possible, do not leave your hammock outdoors overnight. These steps will help prolong the life of your hammock. If you leave your hammock out in the rain, lay flat in the sun to dry. Protect your hammock from any tree sap. NATURAL DEFECTS OF WEATHERING FROM SUN AND RAIN EXPOSURE IMPORTANT INFORMATION When you open your hammock it may have become distorted or have gaps in the bed due to packaging. Do not be alarmed as this is normal. Hang the hammock up and simply brush your hands across the weave to straighten it out. Due to a built in stretch factor, you may have to adjust the tension in the hammock several times. It will stretch to its desired length after continued use. Tighten the hammock as much as possible so that the hammock does not touch the ground when loaded. WOOD Over time, the wood spreader bar on your hammock may become bleached and may turn gray. The varnishing finish may wear off of the surface. PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES Check for loose or untied ropes. Check for fraying at possible wear points; mostly where the ropes pass through the wooden spreader bars. Also check around the metal ring at each end of the hammock. Check the tree/ post/ building attachment before using your hammock, and periodically inspect during the season. Check the ropes by pulling on them. If the ropes are weak, the hammock may be unsafe for further use. Check for cracks or weak areas in the wood. Keep hammock out of direct sunlight and rain whenever possible. MAINTAINING YOUR HAMMOCK Proper care and cleaning of your hammock will help preserve its natural beauty, as well as ensure years of use. Due to the change in atmospheric conditions, or in high humidity, mold may occur on the wood cross bars of your hammock. Should mold occur, we recommend the following care to clean the mold. - Mixture of warm water and bleach with a soft bristled brush or a white cotton cloth applied over the affected area. Repeat as necessary. - Apply a lacquer thinner with a white cotton cloth, then wipe after application. - Apply a wood cleaner or wood reviver (which can be purchased at better home centers and hardware stores) - Always follow manufacturer's instructions when applying lacquer thinner or wood cleaner WARNING Maximum weight capacity is 400 lbs.
