The ShareStream video streaming service allows easy posting of video and audio to a Blackboard Learn course site.
ShareStream enables consistently reliable playback on any device. Add video ?from your computer to ShareStream
Pick-n-Play, and then use a ShareStream Mashup to add media to any content area, test, or assignment.
1. Select Pick-n-Play Tool
Select Tools from the course menu and choose
ShareStream Pick-n-Play.
NOTE: The first time you intialize ShareStream
Pick-n-Play, you will have the option to copy
content from another course.
This is the ONLY chance to copy content. Please see
ShareStream - Copy Content for more information.
3. Upload a Video
•Click the Upload Media button
•Choose the Click to Select Media button
•Click Browse to search for media
•Click Add Media
NOTE: It can take up to 45 minutes for the video to
appear in the “My Work Space” area (depending on
the length of the video)
4. Upload additional videos
Click Yes to upload additional videos, or No to
continue.
5. Add Video to a Course
• Check the box next to the video you want to
upload.
• Click Add to Course.

6. Add a ShareStream mashup to your course
•Select a Content Area
•Hover over Build Content
•Click ShareStream Mashup
7. Searching for ShareStream media
Search for specific files or click Display All Files to
see all available media.
8. Select and Place
•Check the box next to the media you want to add
•Click Add Media
•Click Submit
Your media should now be incorporated into the
designated content area of your course.

Please note that you can only copy ShareStream content when Pick-n-Play is first intialized. Afterwards, media must
be manually uploaded. Media uploaded to an existing Blackboard course can be copied over to a new course. When a
course is copied from a previous semester, ShareStream Assets must be copied over so the links will work properly.
1. Select Pick-n-Play Tool
Select Tools from the course menu and choose
ShareStream Pick-n-Play.
2. Choose media source
In the pop up, choose Yes.
Note: This step is the only opportunity to copy media.
3. Select a Course
In the text box, type the Course ID of the course
you would like to copy from. This is the official
course indentifier found in the Content System
area of your course.
4. Finalize the Transfer
Click Proceed and confirm that you want to copy
the files.
5. Add to Course
Continue with Step 5 of the ShareStream Quick
Guide to add the copied content to your course
content areas.

ShareStream - Student uploads

ShareStream Media Assignments can be created by instructors which will require students to upload media as a
submission for the assignment.
NOTE: ShareStream Media Assignments can be graded the same way as any other assignment.
1. Create a ShareStream Assignment
In a content area, click Assessment and choose
Sharestream Media Assignment and fill out the
Name, Description, and Points Fields.
Click Submit.
2. Enable ShareStream uploads
Click Tools in the course menu. Choose
ShareStream Pick-n-Play.
Click Enable Dropbox.
3. Open the Assignment
In a content area, click on the assignment.
4. Upload a file
Click on Choose File to Upload.
Select a file from your computer.
5. Check Status
A progress bar will appear. Wait for completion.
6. Confirm
A pop-up will appear confirming the upload.
Click OK.

ShareStream allows content creators to upload media to their Blackboard course and then share links to their videos.
The following steps will show you how to create a URL link to media that can be viewed outside of Blackboard.
1. Open ShareStream MediaManager
In your course, click Tools and then click
Sharestream Media Manager.
2. Show the URL
Right click on the video you want to link to and
Select Show Deeplink/Tiny URL.
NOTE: Selecting “Show Embed Code”will allow the
link to be embedded in a Blackboard course site or
other site.
3. Remove Password
Uncheck the “Asset published with password
protection” box and click Yes on the pop-up
window.
4. Copy the URL
Select the URL, right click and choose Copy.
You can now paste this URL into a browser or
e-mail.

ShareStream - Create a Playlist

ShareStream allows you to upload videos to your course as well as create playlists with multiple videos that can be
embedded in content areas for easier viewing.
1. Add media to the course
Follow the ShareStream Quickguide up to Step 5,
adding media for the playlist to the course.
Note: Multiple files can be added by checking
additional boxes.
2. Open ShareStream MediaManager
In your course menu, click Tools and then click
Sharestream Media Manager.
3. Create a new collection
Within the Media Manager there is a Library section.
Right click the course name and choose Add
Collection from the drop down menu.
4. Name the collection
The new collection requires a Title. Other
information is not required.
Click Save Collection.
5. Move media files
In the asset window, hold down shift or control
and select all the files you want to add to the new
collection.
Right click the files and choose Move Asset.
6. Choose a collection
Select the new collection you made as the
destination. Click OK.
Agree to all the dialog boxes that pop up.

6. Create a playlist
Right click the collection containing your media
files. Choose Publish as Playlist.
7. Copy the link
Copy the link from the new window that appears.
Uncheck the box next to password protection to
make it freely accessible.
Click OK.
8. Create a Content Item
Create a new Content Item in any of the course
content areas.
9. Paste link
Paste the link into the HTML Code View.
Click Update.
9. Submit changes
Once you submit the changes to the course item, it
will be placed in the content area.
