Class Parties

Thank you for sending your child to IHM! I am looking forward to a great
school year.
My motto for the Pre-K class is, everyone can learn and learning is fun. I
want my students to love learning, enjoy making new friends and to be
excited about coming to school each day. I believe that every child has a
unique way of learning and that Pre-K is a place to be creative and make
memories!
Communication
A folder will go home with your child each day. The folder will be used for
any notes, important papers, etc… that we need to send home to you and
for you to send to school for us. Please check your child’s folder daily! If
you need to get in touch with me, you may send a good old-fashioned note
to school via your child’s folder, e-mail or phone call. I will check my e-mail
daily; however, it may take 24 hours to get back to you.

Car Line
The Drop off time for our morning Pre-K class is 8:30-8:40 am.
The Pick-up time for the morning Pre-K class is 11:20-11:30 am.
The Pick-up time for the Enrichment Program is 3:20-3:30 pm.
Drop off: When dropping off your child in the car line, it is important that
your child is unbuckled and exits out of the right side of the car, near the
curb. A teacher will come to your car to help assist your child out of the car.
Please do not send your child out of the car without a teacher.
Pick up: Please place the name card on the sun visor of your car and flip
down so the teachers can see your last name. Each class is color
coded. This will assist in a swift and organized departure from the school
parking lot. The staff will bring your child to the car and place them in the
back seat. Please continue to pull forward to the parking area directly ahead
to buckle your child’s seat belt before heading out of the school parking
lot. We ask that you stay in your car for everyone’s safety until you are in
the parking lot area and out of the car line. If someone else will be picking
up your child from school, they will need to have the sign.
Snack/Recess
Please send a dry snack with your child EACH day to school. Please put your
child's snack in the zipper pouch that we gave you at the picnic. It is
important that you put your child's snack in the pouch each day. Water will
be provided as a drink. Our Preschool has a NO NUT policy for all snacks
and lunches. Snack suggestions include pretzels, Goldfish, crackers, raisins,
fruit, granola bars, etc...
Your child will have recess daily. Weather permitting, we will go outside to
the Preschool playground. If the weather is rainy or too cold (during winter
month), we will use the muscle room or day school gym for indoor
recess. This is important time of the day for your child to get exercise,
strengthen gross motor skills and to socialize with peers.
Mystery Reader
Mystery Reader is a time when you can volunteer to come to our class and
read for 15-20 minutes. Please bring around 4-5 of your child’s favorite
stories from home. You will be able to sign up at curriculum night. I will
send an email reminder the week before you are scheduled to read. I ask
that you respond to the e-mail and answer a few questions. On the day you
come to read, I will tell the answers to the students and they will try to
guess the mystery reader!
Class Parties
We will have several class parties that you can volunteer to help with and
you can sign up at Curriculum Night. We will need 4 volunteers for each
party, craft helper, game coordinator, snack and paper products. The
holiday parties will include, Halloween, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas,
Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter.
Any parent or guardian who would like to volunteer or visit at IHM, MUST be
Virtus trained and fingerprinted. This is an Archdiocesan requirement and
we must be in compliance at all times. You may contact the parish office at
388-4466 for fingerprinting. To schedule your Virtus training, please visit
www.virtusonline.org to view trainings in our area.
Star Student
Each child will get a chance to be a Star Student. I will send a note home
telling you when your child is Star Student, along with a poster for your child
to fill out at home. Please return it to school the following Monday. Your
child will share the poster with the class and we will hang it on our special
bulletin board. The Poster will be sent home at the end of the week for you
to keep. During this week, your child will get to bring home our class pet (a
stuffed animal)!
Show and Tell
We will begin show and tell in September. Our show and tell coordinates
with the letter we are learning that week. Each week four students will have
a turn and we will play a guessing game. They will keep their show and tell
in their backpack and keep it hidden. I ask that you help your child come up
with 1 or 2 clues to give the class about their item. For example if the letter
is d, and your child brings in a stuffed dog, he/she will say “it is an animal
and has a tail.” The Friday Newsletter, that I send home, will let you
know if your child has a turn the following week.
Curriculum Night
The preschool curriculum night will be held on Monday, August 24th at 6:00
in Heritage Hall. The preschool teachers will give an overview of our
program. There will be sign-up sheets for class parties and events. Please
e-mail me if you are unable to attend on August 24th. I look forward to
answering any of you questions at curriculum night.
