METALLIC BALL AMY HUANG [email protected] CMPS 160 DESCRIPTION • THE PROJECT AIMS TO CREATE A REFLECTIVE SPHERICAL BALL WHICH COULD MOVE ABOUT ON SOME TERRAIN • THE BALL’S SURFACE WOULD REFLECT ITS SURROUNDING SURFACE AS IT MOVES • RENDERED IN 3D • MOVEMENT OF THE BALL MAY BE CONTROLLED BY THE USER USING EITHER SLIDERS OR THE MOUSE PLANNED RESULT • THE RESULTING PROJECT WOULD LOOK SIMILAR TO THIS • THE SURFACE WOULD BE SOME TEXTURED SURFACE WITH DIFFERENT LEVELS OF HEIGHTS • THE SURFACE DESIGNED PLANNED FOR THIS PROJECT IS A ZOOMED IN SECTION OF THE MANDELBROT PLOT CHECK POINT PROGRESS FUTURE WORK • THE TERRAIN AND SPHERE HAS BEEN GENERATED USING TRIANGULAR PATCHES • IMPLEMENT TERRAIN REFLECTION ON THE SPHERE’S SURFACE • BASIC SHADING HAS BEEN USED SO FAR • HAVE THE SPHERE MOVE ALONG THE SURFACE OF THE TERRAIN • SURFACE TILTING AND BALL TRANFORMATIONS HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED • CURRENTLY WORKING ON LIGHTING • APPLY PHYSICS TO THE SPHERE’S MOVEMENTS EXTRA FEATURES IF TIME PERMITS • SPHERE CONFORMATION TO THE TERRAIN’S SURFACE • IT WOULD LOOK SIMILAR TO A BLOB OF MERCURY THE END
