A message to the teachers, parents and
caregivers…
Why Health Literacy?
Health literacy is important because it informs and broadens the
knowledge in children at a young age so that they can put it to use in
their future. The fact that obesity has now TRIPLED in children in the
past 25 years is frightening. Not only do many physical risks arise with
obesity and low activity in children, but it hinders their emotional and
social state as well. This health literacy book will aid in keeping high
blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and depression at bay. It will help
keep children physically active and enjoying life to its fullest in a fun and
most importantly a healthy way!
Why this activity/game in written form?
This book is written for the intention that it will get the readers engaged
in physical activity while having fun! It has been written in a procedural
form to ensure that the game is being taught and played correctly, to
improve balance and agility and to keep the readers active. It has been
written for ages 3-10 years old.

Meet Spencer…
Kasch and Spencer are
going to demonstrate the
game Hot Feet for you
today!

We need to remember that before any type of exercise
we should stretch out all of our muscles to make sure
that they are warmed up and ready for our game!
3
Now that our muscle are warmed up, I am going to teach you
how to play the game Hot Feet! It will help you practice your
balance and agility. To play this game you need to have an
imagination. We are going to pretend we are standing on hot
coals.
4
First lift your
right foot up so
your toes are
pointing up to
the sky!
5
Next lift your right foot up again as fast as you can
and touch your left hand to your right foot in front of
your body. Good job!
6
Now switch feet as fast as you can and touch your
right hand to your left foot in front of your body.
7
Switch feet!
Touch your left hand to your right foot behind your
body
8
Hop on your left foot and clap above your head as fast as you can
9
Almost finished….Hop on your left foot and clap behind your
back.
10
We are getting close to wrapping up this game, always
remember that Hot Feet can be played for as long as you want,
with as many people as you want and with many different little
challenges.
Last but not least, I want you to jump up as fast you can with both
of your feet.
I hope that you’ve enjoyed the game Hot Feet and I hope that you
can all show your friends how to play!
