(pupils could also say some of this together) Captain Splat Computers can do wonderful things Pupils walking and passing scarves to each other randomly Passing messages from person to person at lightning speeds, building bridges between us, swapping information. Team Robot passing the scarves. Making new friends and meeting old ones. Wave and then shake hands. Taking pictures. Take a pose with scarf while other pupil takes photo then swap roles. Learning from each other and sharing our creative ideas. One pupil does a trick; the other copies (e.g. throw under the leg) Working together and creating magic Scrunch up scarf and all blow in the air or similar- Music Stops But sometimes using a computer can cause problems and even be dangerous Team Robot (all pupils) Dangerous?! But why? (big hand action) Captain Splat These lines can also be said by the pupils – they can be grouped in pairs so easier to remember where they speak from - if too difficult they can be said by Captain Splat or Operators with scripts/clipboards… Well you can never be sure who is writing the message & what their intentions are. Online anybody can be pretending to be anybody and they don’t even need a disguise, just a change of photo. And of course once a message is sent it is out there forever. Quick! Send a message. If we share information we hadn’t meant to or say things we didn’t mean, it’s not possible to get it back again, once it is sent. We must be sure we know who we are talking to and be careful of what we send. We will learn more about that today... looking to get their scarf back, tugging from partner . or just looking lost and confused a can not trace where their scarf is - then they do they go off and turn round their mask to Meanie side Today we are going to imagine what these problems and dangers would look like if they were aliens and take you on a journey into outer space. Activate game show Well now it’s time to play the Team Robot Game Show – “It’s Impossible to Know”. Please welcome your host (...) (Quick change into Hosts costume/or different actor... after getting cast (and audience) to clap/cheer…) Game show host can wear curly wig – any fun costume, holds Mic. MUSIC: SPANISH FLEA Host Hello and welcome to... All pupils ‘It’s impossible to know!’ Host Let’s welcome our first contestant… What's your name? Sam Erm er.... Sam Host Hello, “Erm, er, Sam”! First question! You are online chatting to people. The person says they are 10 years old and a boy. They send you a message asking what football team do you support. Now who is this person? Is it? A] A 10 year old boy? B] A human sized chicken? C] Elvis Presley/ Anything you want to choose? D] A grown up? Sam But it's impossible to know. Host Correct, it's impossible to know! 8 You have won absolutely nothing! Thank you for playing it's impossible to know. gets cast (and audience) to clap/cheer… comes back as Captain Splat If you are ever on a game that allows you to chat to someone, you never know who that person really is. SO, and this IS VERY IMPORTANT, don’t speak to anyone online who you don’t know in real life, and NEVER, ever meet up with them. People you don’t know are strangers. They are not always who they say they are. And don’t give away ANY pictures or personal information of yourself or your friends. Sam But they said we had won competitions... Captain Splat Yes, but that was just another way to get people to click. Sometimes messages we see aren’t obviously fake. They can seem convincing so we have to stay alert. Sam So what should I do? Safety Robot You must be careful, and if you make a mistake you should tell an adult you trust. Captain Splat That’s right; they should always know what you are doing online. Everyone can get it wrong sometimes and they will find a way to help you. Sam Wow! I’m so glad I learnt all about that! Captain Splat Well it’s ok as you haven’t started playing the game we should be able run our anti meanie software... Sam Umm, I did send this message to my friends as they said if I shared it I would get prizes and. .. Mum Shhh quiet! look it’s the news....and there are aliens invading! Meanies move fwd/on spot ferociously attacking…freeze MUSIC: NEWS REPORT 9 Reporter - Reporter (with microphone/hat) This is (Name) reporting for Team Robot News. Meanies have invaded Planet Earth. Secret Agent Splat and his robot are in the city centre now. Secret Agent Splat Thanks [NAME] I am here in the centre of The Meanie invasion. Secret Agent Splat We know not to send out our information but the Meanies have other tricks! Half the pupils are walking around as humans on phones. The other half are Meanies following them and looking over their shoulders. Secret Agent Splat Well, you can see that the people here are sending messages to each other. But when they get a mean message they don’t ignore it like they should. The meanie that is following them makes them send a mean message back. This makes things much, much worse and eventually they turn into meanise themselves. Let’s watch. Meanies (chanting, quietly at first) Meanie me, meanie me... Humans gradually turn into meanies and change their hats. Eventually they are all meanies. Reporter So, the meanies are trying to make humans into meanies just like them? Secret Agent Splat Exactly right! Meanies (all can say different things) That’s rubbish; hate it, no good, stupid, hate you, that’s silly, Meanies notice the Reporter and Secret Agent Splat Secret Agent Splat Let’s get out of here! Reporter And now over to the Splats Lab where our scientists have been studying this phenomenon! Chased off stage by meanies. Meanies (chanting and advancing into audience and sit down as audience Meanie me, meanie me End of Scene 2. 10 SCENE THREE THE LAB AND THE COACH ROBOT Reporter Dr. Splat Dr. Splatto Dr. Splatty Dr. Splattier Coach Robot MUSIC - NEWS REPORT Reporter Here I am at the headquarters of the research lab speaking with Doctor Splat. Now, Doctor, you’ve been studying the meanies haven’t you? Dr. Splat Yes, here at the Splats Lab we have been studying the meanie invading forces. We have studied the footage from the city and have some startling conclusions. Let’s show you... We have slowed the video down so we can see how they work. Meanies blast out in all directions (slow motion) to the edge of the stage This was th e scene earlier when we tried blowing up the Meanies. As you can see they rather liked that! Meanies Yipppeee! Secret Agent Splat You see they giggle, wriggle their fingers and tongue’s and seem to multiply in all sorts of directions and then just watch the humans. As you can see. The humans each have a meanie on them. If they get a mean message they start saying mean things back. Humans start becoming meanies. Pause! See, there! If you look carefully their fingers go a bit wriggly and their tongue sticks out, a clear sign of early meanie infection. Play! All humans are meanies. Pause! Interestingly the Meanies just stand back here and giggle they don’t seem to need to do much more. Play! 11 Original meanies back off and humans (now meanies) act mad at one another. Pause! They think their friends are talking about them, laughing at them and before long everyone has gone full Meanie. The problem is that when people are messaging online it’s very difficult to know how the other person is really feeling because you aren’t with them. You might think twice about being mean if you did know. And online messages are often seen by lots of other people which can make things even worse. So you see our victims are just becoming more and more loyal to the Meanies. They are even starting to chant. All Meanies and Humans Meanie Me, Meanie Me, Meanie Me, Meanies coming towards audience. Reporter Scary stuff. So, can we fix it. Dr. Splat I think so. Let me bring in my research team... Enter three headed doctor in labcoat.or three doctors Dr Splatto Hello – I am Dr. Splat. Dr Splatty … and I am Dr Splatty. Dr Splattier … and I am Dr Splattier. Coach Robot And I am the Coach Robot. Activate Team Robot – Thinking Mode Team Robot march in and stand in thinking pose. Coach Robot Activate Virtual Meanies! Meanies enter and stand by any Team Robot member and then freeze. Dr Splatto We have created virtual reality meanies. 12 Dr Splatty Think carefully before posting anything online. Dr Splattier The Meanies will try to rush you into doing things. Mean things. All Meanies Go on go on, quick quick quick, funny funny, he’s rubbish, say something mean. Coach Robot Remember, what you say on the internet stays there for a very long time. Meanies For ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever. Giggles. Dr. Splat So never put anything online that might be hurtful or mean. If someone is being mean to you we have a few ways to help you with what to do... One member of Team Robot comes forward and mimes this section with all the meanies. Dr Splatty Here someone receives a mean message... Dr. Splatto ...and we can see the Meanies encourage them to respond. Meanies Go on, go on. Say something mean back. Go, on. Dr Splattier It’s much easier to be mean online than in real life. Meanies They aren’t here, no-one will know, go on be mean. Dr. Splat That’s right – it’s very easy to give in and be mean and, because you aren’t with them, you don’t truly know what the other person is thinking or feeling. Always ask yourself before sending a message, “How would I feel?” See what happens if they do respond (Everybody turns into Meanies) 13 Dr Splat That didn't go very well... Quick undo! The humans and Meanies reverse back in to position. Now, let’s see how things will turn out if we put a few thinking rules in place first. What rules should these be, Team Robot? Team Robot member Always think before sending a message. Team Robot members “Put yourself in their shoes” “How would I feel?” “Is this a kind message?” then “Would I be happy for my teacher to read it?” Dr Splat And if you get a mean message... Team Robot member Get evidence... Team Robot Member Tell a trusted adult. Dr Splat Eventually the Meanie will give up or get into trouble. The Meanies angrily skulk off. Dr Splat Remember, never send a message when angry or upset Dr Splat But how can we keep cool? Coach Robot We can show you how. Dr Splatto Here is an angry person. Team Robot member comes up looking angry. Dr Splatty Look how angry they are. Dr. Splattier But we can help them calm down. Dr Splat Remember, never send a message when angry or upset. 14 Before you send a message, always: Relax. Think. Breathe, breathe and breathe some more. Or just go and do something else, like practicing your favorite tricks! Dr Splat In fact, if you make sure that you aren’t mean, then the meanies have nothing to do at all! Meanies being mean to Team Robot but Team Robot ignore them, shake hands with each ther and leave. Meanies all become weak and collapse. POSSIBLE EXTRA We now present to you the Team Robot Circus Show! (3.4) The students quickly pick up circus equipment and put on a show. Dr Splat RESET MEANIES TO HAVE FUN! TEAM ROBOT STAY FOCUSSED! Coach Robot Use these easy tricks to avoid getting angry or being mean online and you can be Daddy Cool! MUSIC - DADDY COOL End of scene 3. 15 SCENE FOUR THE DISCO ROBOTS AND THE BATTLE FOR EARTH Team Robot 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Operator 1, 2, 3, 4. Robots 1, 2, 3, 4. Meanie 1, 2, 3, 4. Captain Splat King Meanie Half the class on stage as Team Robot, half off stage as Meaines. We have now collected all our data from our research to see how we can defeat the Meanies let’s get the Robots ready from the other classes. Team Robot 1 A message from the Lab Captain! They say their research is complete. Captain Splat Our research shows that the best way not to be mean is to feel good about yourself. To stay safe from the Meanies we need to stay active, have fun and be alert. Team Robot 2 They say no one can make you mean if you chose not to be. Team Robot 3 We have entered all the data and the computer has a way to defeat the meanies. Team Robot 4 It says “disco dancing robots”, Captain. Captain Splat Ok! Disco dancing robots it is! MUSIC: GONNA FLY NOW Calling all robots calling all robots prepare to fight the Meanie invasion using the power of dance The Robots from Classes One, Two and Three join in here. They have new operators who read out what they like and their specialty. Examples are below but pupils can make up their own. Robots, each with an operator, come to the front. In this narration everyone joins in to mime the hobbies of the robots. 16 Operator 1 Our first Robot all the way from Class One our Thinking Robot . . . Likes Football, Painting and wants to make a difference to this world Specialty dance is The Robot (or The Thinker!) Operator 2 Our Safety Robot all the way from Class . . . . Likes Kung Fu, snooker and likes saving the universe in his spare time Specialty dance is The Safety Dance! Operator 3 Our Coach Robot all the way from Class . . . Likes singing, dance and wants to save the planet Specialty dance is The Robot Moon walk Operator 4 Our Final Robot all the way from Class 4 is the Disco Robot. Likes milkshakes, opera and defeating naughty meanies. Specialty dance is Disco Freestyle! Captain Splat We are going to use robots, and the skills we have learnt today, so we don’t catch the meanie virus and become meanies ourselves. To operate our robots and to show how we can focus we have devised a special disco code so the meanies can't attack our computers. MUSIC - BOOGIE NIGHTS Defence - Disco arms! Dodging - Disco jumps! Dispersing - Disco sweep! Attacking - Disco Kung fu! Team Robot 5. Here come the Meanies! Robots get ready! Team Robot backs off as Meanies come on led by the king. All Meanies All boo for the king of the meanies! Booo. King Meanie Thank you, thank you. You really are too mean. C a p t a i n S p l at Oh no, booing is a bit mean isn’t it, quick everyone smile and wave at the Meanies (to the King) you almost caught me there! Get meanies into position and the robots. 17 Captain Splat Hello Mr. King! You won’t be able to take over the Earth. King Meanie I think I can. Lots of humans have told us their secrets and lots of them have started being mean to each other online. That makes us strong! Captain Splat Not strong enough to defeat Team Robot! King of the Meanies Let's see who is smirking after I've blasted you with my lasers! Captain Splat Ooops, he is shooting at us. Before we do anything else, we need to STAY ALIVE! MUSIC: STAYIN’ ALIVE Meanies describe attacks, Team Robot does the dances. Meanies freestyle their part. Meanie 1 Attack! Meanie 2 Attack again! Meanie 3 Shields! Meanie 4 Defend! King Meanie We are defeated! You were too smart, and too calm, for us to defeat you. But what were those awesome moves you were doing? Captain Splat That was Team Robot disco dancing! King Meanie That was cool! Can we do it too! (OR CAN continue to win over meanies and GO INTO EMERGENCY DANCE) (or) NAAHH Dance-nonsense! Just wait until my Meanie-troops get here... Captain Splat We have to try and win him over. 18 Captin Splat It's time for the EMERGENCY LAUGHTER DANCE! MUSIC - EMERGENCY DANCES Pupils free style as the music plays. Some come up to do the special dances. King of the Meanies If you can't beat them. Join them! Captain Splat Of course, meanness spreads easily. But so can many other things. Like kindness, and sharing, and teaching. And… Disco dancing! Meanies and Team Robot merge. Captain Splat And so the meanies were defeated by a combination of calmness, caution, and sweet disco dance moves. So as we travel this world with its billions of messages and many computers; remember to stay safe! Pupils Don’t give away your personal details. Remember your password is *your* password, not even to share with a friend. And if you are tempted to chat to a stranger online, ask yourself who is sending you messages? A friend? A chicken? A meanie? A l l p up i l s It's impossible to know C a p t a i n S p l at Make sure you know who you are talking to. We m i g h t say mean things online and we can’t truly know how we are making someone feel, Use your skills to not make it into a Meanie Me. And if someone is mean to you and you are upset by things – talk to a friend, teacher, family. 19 If you are worried about something online. Tell a trusted grown-up. And most importantly… be yourself and do what you enjoy. All pupils We are all different people who enjoy different things and we must look after one another! AND All pupils Don’t become a meanie! Captain Splat And so with their new knowledge the people of Earth defended themselves against the meanies and didn’t let themselves be beaten by sneaky tricks or becoming mean themselves. They even convinced the meanies to become disco dancers like them! MUSIC: SHAKE IT OFF – TAYLOR SWIFT End of scene 4. 20
