Nursery News
We are delighted that Mr Grundy will be
joining us again in January because the
Nursery roll is increasing to 30 children
each afternoon.
Book Fair
The Book Fair arrives in school this week
and children can buy books from Thursday
3rd until Tuesday 8th December. For each
book that is bought, the school will get
another book free of charge. This is a great
way to get books for our class libraries and
to get new sets of novels to support
reading. The classes will visit the Book
Fair at the following times on Thursday 3rd
December and parents are welcome to
come in to help their child to select a book:
Nursery a.m. – 11.15 a.m.
Nursery p.m. – 1 p.m.
Pr. 1 – 2.30 p.m.
Pr. 2 – 2 p.m.
Pr. 4/3 – 1.30 p.m.
Pr. 4 – 9.30 a.m.
Pr. 5/4 – 10 a.m.
Pr. 6 – 10.45 a.m.
Pr. 7 – 11.45 a.m.
Parents are also welcome to come in to the
Book Fair during the morning of Friday 4th
December.
The Golden Book Trip
Congratulations to the following children
who took part in the Golden Book trip to
Cineworld on 4th November. The children

Parent Council Fundraising Group
The Christmas Fair is being held on
Saturday 5th December from 10–12.30p.m.
The Fundraising Group is setting up for the
Fair on Friday 4th December from 2 – 4
p.m. and any parent who is able to help
with this would be made most welcome.
Help would also be appreciated on the day.

Donations for the Fair can be handed in to
the school office.
The Fundraising Group is organising
Christmas Discos for the children on 10th
December. Details of this will follow in a
separate letter.
School Crossing Patrol
Please contact 01324 504971 if you are
interested in working as a School Crossing
Patrol at Carmuirs Avenue.
Other News
 Pr. 4 visited Callendar House on
2nd November to take part in a
workshop about the Romans
 On 3rd November staff from the
NHS led an assembly for the whole
school to speak to the children
about the Fluenz vaccinations
 The P.E. specialist, Mr Archibald,
took Pr. 6 & 7 pupils to Easter
Carmuirs Primary playground on
5th November to practice their
Orienteering skills in a safe,
outdoor environment.
 On 9th November the Fire Brigade
spoke to Pr. 6 & 7 pupils about fire
safety.
 On 10th and 12th November
Childline staff spoke to Pr. 6 & 7
about keeping themselves safe
 On 12th November Pr. 1 & 2
enjoyed a visit to Cineworld to see





‘The Gruffalo’ and ‘Room on the
Broom’
On 13th November Pr. 7 visited
Callendar House to take part in
activities related to their World
War 2 topic
Our Pyjama day on 13th November
raised £165 for Children in Need
The children received their Fluenz
vaccinations on 23rd November
On 24th November Mrs Ramsay led
a whole school assembly to remind
children about our expectation of
high standards of behaviour and the
consequences for unacceptable
behaviour
On 26th November Pr. 5/4 visited
Stirling Castle as part of their topic
work about Mary Queen of Scots
Dates for Your Diary
 Pr. 4/3 is presenting an assembly
on 8th December and parents are
welcome to join us at 9.30 a.m.
 The Christmas lunch is on 10th
December
 The Christmas Discos are on 10th
December
 On 11th December Pr. 6 is holding
a small Christmas Fair in the school
hall at 1.30 p.m. to raise funds for
the FADMH charity.
 The Nursery children and
Pr. 1 are taking part in the
Nativity on 15th
December. There will be a
performance at 9.30 a.m.
and one at 1.30 p.m. Tickets cost
£1.50 which includes a light
refreshment. Tickets will be on sale
from 3rd – 9th December and there
is an initial allocation of 2 tickets
max per family. Any extra tickets
will go on sale on 10th December.
Christmas Parties:

 The Sleeping Beauty Pantomime is
on 17th December and tickets cost
£1 per child (£3 per family). Please
bring money in a.s.a.p. Thank you.



Coffee, Carols & Cakes is being
held at 9.30 a.m. on 18th December.
Tickets cost £1.50 and this includes
tea or coffee and a cake. Pr. 2 – 7
pupils will entertain us with
Christmas songs
The Church Service is being held at
Camelon Parish Church on 22nd
December at 11 a.m. and parents
are welcome to join us.
The school closes for the Christmas
holidays on 22nd December at 1.30
p.m. and opens again on 7th January
Arrangements for 22nd December
All schools in Falkirk Council will close at
1.30 p.m. on 22nd December.
At Carmuirs Primary the lunch hour will
be 12.30 – 1.30 p.m. so that children going
home for lunch will finish at 12.30 p.m.
Lunch will be served at 12.15 p.m. but
there will only be a blue option available.
Any child having lunch on 22nd December
must order and pay for it on Monday 14th
December. Unfortunately no orders for
lunch on 22nd December can be made
after 14th December.
Children may bring packed lunches to
school on 22nd December.
Children staying at school over the lunch
hour will be supervised as usual and will
be dismissed from school at 1.30 p.m.
Parents of Pr. 1 and 2 pupils who are going
home for lunch should collect them from
the Infant door at 12.30 p.m. Parents of Pr.
1 and 2 pupils who are staying in school
for lunch should collect them at the Infant
door at 1.30 p.m.
