New Player Registration
New player registrations will be accepted beginning May 15, 5pm-8pm, players may be placed on wait lists, depending on
number of returning players registered. NMHA does not guarantee a placement on a team.

The above link directs you to the form which must be included with ALL documentation in order to register with NMHA.
A Residential Move-with parent can only occur when a player resides within the NMHA boundaries as above, with
his/her parent and the parent changes his/her permanent place of residence and the player continues to reside with his
parent. This shall not be a temporary residence. The Registrar will request documents to support move depending on
circumstances.
A Residential Move-without parent can only occur when “legal custody” and/or “legal guardian” of registering player,
refers to the granting of custody as determined by a Court of Law. The Registrar will request documents to support move
depending on circumstances.
NMHA reserves the right to refuse registration if all documents are not provided; all transfers are subject to VIAHA, BC
Hockey and Hockey Canada approvals.
Payment:
Return the registration form after May 15th, through the mail slot at the Nanaimo Minor Hockey Office (located to the
back left side of NANAIMO ICE CENTRE) or register in person during office hours, see website for details.
 Debit, VISA, & MASTER CARD($10.00 will be added if using a credit card) will be available at the office
Two cheques (fee split 50/50), one for date registering and one postdated before or on September 1, 2017 will be
accepted.
Jersey Deposit Cheque for $100.00 postdated for March 31, 2018 - shredded once jersey returned
 Proof of Residency – a bill or government piece of mail dated within 3 months

Respect In Sport (RIS) Registration/Information:
Coaching staff and at least one parent of the player household is required to complete Respect in Sports.
If you have completed the RIS – Parent Version within the past two seasons, you may register your child.
If you have taken the Team/Staff Version within the last four years, you may register your child. If
your RIS is expired, you are required to renew the Parent Version or Team Staff version in order to
register your child.

PARENT CONTRACT “CODE OF CONDUCT”
The purpose of this contract (Code of Conduct) is to promote fair play and respect for all participants within Nanaimo
Minor Hockey Association. All parents are required to sign this contract before they or their child participates in hockey
and must continue to abide by the principles of Fair Play.
FAIR PLAY CODE
1. I will accept the Fair Play rules set out by Hockey Canada. (If you are unfamiliar with them please look them up
on the Hockey Canada website)
2. I will abide by all policy and procedures set out by Hockey Canada (HC), BC Hockey (BCH), Vancouver Island
Amateur Hockey Association (VIAHA), and Nanaimo Minor Hockey Association (NMHA). These policies are
available for viewing on each association’s websites.
3. I will support ALL EFFORTS to remove ALL physical and VERBAL abuse, including that of ON ICE
OFFICIALS from ALL hockey games and practices.
4. I will remember that my child plays hockey for their enjoyment, not mine, and I will not force them to play the
game if they do not wish to.
5. I will teach my child that doing one’s best is as important as winning so that my child will never feel defeated by
the outcome of the game by making my child feel like a winner every time by offering praise for competing fairly
and hard, and never ridiculing him/her for making a mistake or losing a game.
6. I will respect and show appreciation for the volunteers who give their time to hockey for my child. This includes
coaches, managers, and officials. I realize that without these volunteers my child will not be able to play hockey
7. I will remember that children learn from my examples. I will applaud good plays and performances by both my
child’s team and their opponents. I will encourage my child to play by the rules as set out by HC, BCH, and
VIAHA, and to resolve ALL CONFLICT without resorting to violence or hostility, including towards officials.
8. I will never publicly question the honesty or judgement of the Officials. I recognize that the Officials are being
developed in the same manner as players. DOING SO GOES AGAINST ARTICLES 1 AND 2 OF THIS
CONTRACT, AND COULD POSSIBLY RESULT IN DISCIPLENARY ACTION BROUGHT AGAINST ME,
UP TO AND INCLUDING BANISHMENT FROM ALL ARENAS IN THE NMHA JURISDICTION.
