Main purpose of the role: To work with the Director of Studies and Head of Boys Games
to take responsibility for Girls’ Games. To teach PE to all ages across the Pre-Prep and
Prep School.
Background information: The role will be line managed by the Director of Studies for
Games and by the Head of PE/Boys Games for PE. Working as part of a busy Games/PE
team, this role works closely with all other members of the department.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Head of Girls’Games
1. To ensure the smooth running of the Girls’ Games department on a day to day
basis.
2. To work with the Director of Studies and Head of Boys’ Games to prepare and
submit a 3 year development plan for the department.
3. To create a balanced fixture list and to work with the Head of Boys’ Games to
ensure that all catering and transport arrangements are in place.
4. To provide an example of excellence as the leading classroom practitioner and to
inspire and motivate other staff.
5. To monitor and develop the curriculum within the department and to work with the
Head of Boys’ Games to keep the departmental handbook up to date.
6. To adopt a systematic approach of monitoring teaching and learning as well as
pupil progress within the department.
7. To work with the Head of Boys’ Games to take responsibility for and submit an
annual budget and following approval, manage its effective allocation within the
team.
8. To be responsible for managing any external coaches who are employed to work
part-time within Girls’Games.
9. To attend parents evenings and represent the department/subject area at school
events.
10. To work with the Head of Boys’ Games in the planning, organising and delivery of
the Pre-Prep and Prep School Sports Days

1. To teach PE and Games to a variety of classes from Years 0-8 with confidence
and dynamism and with a high regard for Health and Safety.
2. To keep a clear record of children’s progress in accordance with school and
departmental policy.
3. To be an enthusiastic and supporting member of the school community and to
contribute actively to the school’s extra-curricular programme.
4. To attend tournaments and sports matches, arranged sometimes at weekends,
throughout the year in Hockey, Netball, Rounders and Athletics.
5. To keep abreast of current coaching and teaching ideas and to attend in-house
and external CPD as required.
6. To undertake other duties appropriate to the general purpose of the post that may
from time to time be reasonably assigned by the Headteacher and/or Director of
Studies.

Additional Information

Annual salary: Dependent on experience

The appointment is permanent

Your normal hours of work will be 8am – 5.20pm, Monday to Friday during the
school term-times. The job also entails being available for matches on
Saturdays and for CPD days prior to the start of each term.

All posts are subject to the receipt of a satisfactory DBS certificate,
references, medical checks, proof of identity and copies of qualifications,
where a requirement of the role.
