Theta Coma (Reversible); Sedative Medication After NCSE. A 9-year-old boy with NCSE who received midazolam infusion. EEG shows anteriorly
predominant theta activity intermixed with delta and beta activity. The patient was recovering after the treatment.
Alpha or theta coma can also be seen in toxic encephalopathy. The EEG pattern is very similar to that seen with cardiorespiratory arrest, except that there
is superimposed beta activity.62–64 Overdoses of many different drugs can produce this pattern.3 The outcome depends on the underlying causes. The
prognosis of alpha-theta rhythmic coma as well as of other rhythmic coma is better in children than in adults.65
