Autism occurs in varying degrees based on difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors - Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the U.S. - Autism affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys - Autism affects more than 3 million individuals in the U.S. and tens of millions world wide - Despite these statistics autism research remains severely underfunded - Autism costs a family $60,000 a year on avg. - Chapter Philanthropy Football Frenxi: - Flag football tournament - All sororities and fraternities are invited - Raise awareness and collect donations for Autism Speaks Xi Man Competition: - All fraternity, sorority, and campus organization is invited - Men’s fashion show to display each organization’s philanthropy - Cash prize at the end donated to the winner’s philanthropy Walk Now For Autism Speaks: - Ford Field in Detriot - The WMU Alpha Xi Delta chapter rounds up a group of girls and goes on the walk to support Autism Speaks Executive Board Chapter President Chapter Life VP • Responsibility of whole chapter • President’s right-hand-woman • Plans major events such as Semi-Formal and Greek Week Recording Secretary • In charge of attendance at events as well as formal meetings • Writes the minutes at formal meetings Panhellenic Delegate • Chapter representative at panhellenic meetings • Brings information from those meetings back to chapter Financial VP • Calculates dues for each semester and makes sure they are paid • Sets up payment plans for new members Programs VP • Plans sisterhood events • Also plans Philanthropy events Public Relations VP • In charge of chapter website, Twitter, Facebook, etc. • Makes sure every member’s social media is appropriate Bid Day Bonds That Last a Lifetime
