MATCH GUARANTEES: Each team is guaranteed 4 matches (3 Sat. and at least 1 Sun). a. Forfeits: A forfeit will be “played out”. This means that the team that showed up will take the ball from the beginning and score the point. BE SURE NOT TO MISS! The ball will stay in the opposing net until the end of the game OR until the opposing team shows up and get the ball out of the net to begin play. This means that a team can be late and still play; however, they will start behind one goal. The forfeit will be official at the end of the game. 2. DURATION: The duration of each match is 45 minutes- two halves of 20 minutes and a 5 minute half time. Each game will start on the top the hour. 3. GAME SHEETS: The referee will hand game cards to the winning coach. It is the responsibility of the winning coach to turn in the game sheet to the Main Office for tabulation. We will not track down missing game sheets. If you do not turn it in the game will be marked a 0-0 tie to both teams. 4. TEAM MAKEUP: Teams will play with six players, including a goalkeeper. The maximum roster size is 12 players. All teams must have an alternate color of jersey, shirt, or penny to wear in case of similar colors. The first team listed on the schedule is the “home” team and must change if a color conflict arises. 5. CHECK-IN: All teams must check in at Mike’s Fieldhouse prior to their first game. It is recommended that the coach and all players are present at registration to get wristbands. If some players are going to be late, then register what you have and a player can register later without the coach. Approved Player Cards are required and must be presented a check-in for player registration. All players are required to wear a colored tear-proof bracelet on their right wrist. Each team will be issued different colors. The wrist band is worn to prevent teams from switching rosters in the middle of the tournament. If a player is found not wearing a wristband, the player will not be allowed to play. If the wristband is torn, the player needs to report to the Fieldhouse Main Office to have it replaced. All wristbands are placed on the wrist by Tournament Staff. Wristbands will not be issued to coaches, parents, or other team administrators. 6. REGISTRATION FEES, REFUNDS AND LATE FEES: Registration for the Tournament is open September 1st through 2 weeks before the tournament weekend. The team registration fee is $300and is payable online, or by mailing a check to Basin United at 4500 Foothills Boulevard, Klamath Falls, OR 97603 BEFORE the tournament. HOW THE BRACKET WORKS 1. Teams shall be awarded points on Saturday as follows: WIN: 6 points TIE: 3 points SHUT OUT: 1 point LOSS: 0 points RED CARD: -1 point 2 YELLOW CARDS: -1 point 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Bonus points will also be awarded for each goal scored, not to exceed a maximum of three goals per match. An additional bonus point will be awarded to the winning team for achieving a shut-out. Teams shall be awarded points for goals scored without regard to the outcome of the match. That is, the losing team will receive points (up to three) for goals scored. If a tie score of 0-0 happens, then both teams will be awarded 4 points. Points will be tallied through-out the day on Saturday. At the end of the day on Saturday, points will be totaled and then the team will be assigned a seed number for play on Sunday. All teams, regardless of their total points from Saturday will be seeded, which means EVERY team will be playing on Sunday for a chance at the championship. Bracket selection will be similar to the NCAA selection where the number one seed will play the last seed and so on. In the event that two or more teams are tied in points at the end of Saturday, the flowing tie breaker shall be used in order to determine seed number: a. Coin Toss- done by tournament personnel. Coaches are not required to be present If a tie occurs on Sunday after regulation, both teams will immediately compete in a shoot-out skill competition on their current field. Each team will select 5 players to participate and a Goal Keeper (the Goal Keeper is permitted to be one of the 5 players selected to participate in the competition). Please report to the Main Office ASAP after the shootout as the winner is likely to have another game very soon. Once the bracket is posted, it is final. The bracket for Sunday play will be made near the end of play on Saturday. All interested coaches should stick around and verify information on Saturday. Seeding information will be posted online by 8:00PM Saturday. ONCE IT IS POSTED, NO CHANGES. Bracket play is single elimination. SOCCER RULES AT MIKE’S MEMORIAL CUP 1. Regular soccer rules will prevail with following EXCEPTIONS: a. There is NO off-side law b. Each half will be started with a drop ball at center of the field. The referee will not wait for the teams to be ready. Once the horn blows the referee will drop the ball no matter who is on the field. BE READY! c. After a goal has been scored or a restart on a goal kick, the scored upon team will restart the match with a goal kick from anywhere within their goal area or released by the goalie. NO OPPOSING PLAYERS ARE ALLOWED WITHIN THE PENTALY BOX ON A RESTART. Once the ball leaves the penalty area, the ball is live. Violation of this rule will be considered a yellow card offense. d. NO SLIDE TACKLING!!! We all want to go home in one piece. This will be cited as a yellow card every time, unless it is fragrant, in which case it will be cited as a red. A slide tackle, according to this tournament, is where a player slides one or two feet on the ground in an attempt to get the ball AND alters the steps of an opposing player. A player who slides to save a ball with no opponent is not considered a slide tackle. e. No goalie drop kicks or punts. The goalie must put the ball in play by throwing or rolling the ball. If a violation is called by the referee, an indirect free kick outside the goal area will be awarded to the other team. Goalies cannot bounce the ball on the ground and then punt the ball. f. Substitutions: occur on the fly; however, the player leaving the match must exit through their respective door and leave the field of play before the new player may enter. Players must also enter through their respective door. Violation of this rule shall result in a verbal warning to the team and an indirect free kick from where the ball was when the match was stopped to issue the warning. The second warning will result in a straight yellow card to the player coming on the field. g. Protests and Disputes: All decisions by referees may not be appealed. Clerical errors can occur and may be brought up to the Fieldhouse Main Office. Disputed scores will be verified by the official game sheet. The tournament committee will determine and correct any errors that might occur. h. Conduct and Discipline: Please keep in mind that the purpose of this tournament is to have fun. We expect the behavior of all participants, coaches, and spectators to respect each other and to the referees and other staff. If we find that a behavior line has been crossed, we will ask you to leave. Any player ejected from a match for a red card offense, will not be allowed to play the next game. The goal is to keep players safe. We do not appreciate over aggressive behavior.
