OVERSEAS PRAYER LETTER SUMMARY - MAY 2017
DAVID & JENNY MEWES (BMS World Mission, China) Teaching English in
Qingzhou at Weifang Nursing Vocational College. First BMS workers in China for many
years.
Continuing problems with authorities about attendance at unlicensed Church.
Our Sunday evening Bible Study will continue to take place as will helping our friends to start
a kindergarten. License needed.
Our college and children’s classes are going well.
We have just rented an apartment in town, close to the old campus and central shopping
district.
DAVID & ALISON TUTE (Wycliffe, Ukarumpa, PNG). David is Director for PNG area, Alison in
the Biblical Studies Team, offering courses to local Bible Translators.
The 2017 Translators’ Training Courses (TTC) began on Wednesday morning. Alison starts
teaching TTC1 on May 10th., and TTC2 Bible Background lessons begin next Tuesday, 2nd
May.
This year for TTC1 we have three teams, many never left their villages before:
the Bwaidoka language group from Goodenough Island off the eastern tip of PNG;
and from Madang Province the Bau language group and the Kou language group.
David’s new team continues to settle in, although with many issues to deal with.
General elections shortly, already many deaths during “Canvassing”!
ESTHER & WAI NG (Bahrain) Book stall, literature & fortnightly visit to the men’s prison and
Esther in school work. Katie completed her degree at Sheffield University and Josh just
starting in Sweden. Laura at secondary school preparing for her A level examinations.
We managed to get Diane, Eli, Karen and Helen to meet together 2 weeks ago.
We saw 10 Bibles (8 Arabic, 2 English) go out in April.
Chinese Ministry. The fellowship is maturing; we had our 1st Holy Communion on Good
Friday!
Prison ministry. Able to visit and have a 90 minutes meeting on April 15th.
Lukas, an Italian, in prison for 8 months. Wants to know more though he is a Catholic.
Katie is unsure of her next step after her commitment in Tajikistan finishes this June.
CLAIRE & JOHN MULONGI (HENDY) (Uganda) Independent married to Ugandan
John. Mission through agriculture etc.
Last 6 months John has been coordinating work with power company to get power to our
village.
Problems with Land Title errors on documents.
The rains are here, although not great. Everyone is busy planting and caring for their crops.
SAHODAR NEPAL & UK - SN focuses on the poor, disadvantaged and marginalised groups in
the village of Garambeshi and surrounding areas in a remote part of western Nepal. SUK
aims to support the efforts of SN both financially and practically.
Children are doing well, 25 new street children have come in.
Dr. Shiva’s case now closed.
Financial problems for hospital.
JOE & ICHA GARDINER (YWAM, Bali) Training programme and ministry through sports.
Visiting DTS teams in various countries. Physical healings and conversions, including a
religious leader.
TAMSIN OOSTHUIZEN (MEWES) (S. Africa, LifeXchange). Teaching teenagers and rehab. of
drug dealers, gang members etc.
AARON & SARAH BEECHER (Tariro, Mozambique)
DAVE & SUE WALL (Independent), Acts4Sharing, Hampshire & Latvia.
Dave's health. He is struggling with the M.E.
Flying visit to Latvia. visited Norkalni, – tremendous improvements, many booked in to use
the centre throughout the year from day long Alpha groups to week long camps.
ANDY AND JENNY SAUNDERS (Nepal) New BMS link missionaries. Jenny studying for
Masters in counselling and psychotherapy.
In Nepal from January to May on a tourist visa, doing language study.

ESTHER GIBBS (Sussex University, Brighton.) Third year of Anthropology and Cultural Studies
in Sussex.
SIMON APPLEBEE (Moorlands Bible College & CRP) Studying for degree in Youth Ministry
with placement at CRP.
JAMES FARRANT Two year distance learning course with CWR leading to a MA.
OLLIE & JACKIE STOPP. (Spurgeon’s Baptist College) Ollie, part-time ordination course for
Baptist Union accreditation. Jackie teaching English.
Ollie has now completed his final (ever?) essay for Spurgeons.
Suffering from anxiety and has asked for counselling through the Baptist Union, post Iford.
Jackie -teaching is busy and I am a little anxious about how Sam will cope with school again.

MALCOLM & LOUISE DUNKLEY (UFM) Sheffield, preparing for work in Middle East.
Aiming to go to Middle East in September.
SHORT TERMERS , TENTMAKERS, ETC. :-
FINBAR RICKMAN (Scripture Union, Scotland.) Training to be a qualified activities
instructor at the Scripture Union centre at Lendrick Muir.
ASTRA & DEREK PARKIN (Romania Aid) Organise House of Blessings (Refuge house.)
For good relationships between all who live in the House (Lili, Iuliana, Mihaela, "F" and "G")
For Lili to find a suitable person to provide respite care so Lili can take her time off.
For local Romanians to take more responsibility for helping their disadvantaged neighbours
especially Christians undertaking voluntary work and/or financial support.
For continued wisdom and positivity in our communications with Lili.
