Using modern Honda ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) / Quadbikes, we offer you a unique African safari
experience in one of East Africa’s most beautiful national parks.
These drive-yourself safaris include; transfers from Jinja
or Kampala, numerous opportunities to get close to the
many species of African animals & birds in Lake Mburo,
magnificent scenery with 360° views outside the confines
of a normal safari vehicle, sections with challenging rides
and very good accommodation options. With years of
experience running trips in the park, we are able to offer
you safe and very memorable safaris, tailored to your
requirements and unlike any other in East Africa.
Lake Mburo National Park in SW Uganda encompasses
260 square kilometres of wilderness, set amongst rolling
hills, with a mosaic of habitats; open savannah, woodlands and wetlands. The park has a variety of animals
including; zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, oribi, waterbuck,
leopard, hippo, hyena, topi and reedbuck. There are
approximately 320 species of birds in the park.
We are only able to offer these safaris at certain times of
the year for between 1 to 5 clients. They need to be booked
at least 2 weeks in advance. We operate them with a
passion rather than as a viable business to keep the costs as
low as possible. However the overheads are high making
the Lake Mburo Game Viewing Safaris unsuitable for people
working with a tight budget. We are able to provide safaris
from our base at Bujagali Falls at much lower rates.
Duration: 1 day from Bujagali Falls via Jinja and Kampala to Lake Mburo - 2 or 3 days in the park and through
areas of the buffer zone around the park - 1 day return.
Each trip is personally guided by Peter Knight (originally from
New Zealand), Managing Director of All Terrain Adventures.
While based in the Australia & the UK he raced motorcycles. In
1997, he took the first of 3 trans-Africa safaris via West Africa, &
the Congo and in 2000 across Sudan. He has also travelled
extensively throughout East & Southern Africa as a tour leader
and in 2002 established All Terrain Adventures at Bujagali Falls in
Uganda.
“Every safari at Lake Mburo has been so full of amazing experiences that it has inspired me to offer these trips
when I am able to take time out from managing our main business at Bujagali Falls.” PK

While many of our clients have previous experience riding ATVs / Quadbikes, this is not necessary. The new
Hondas that we provide are simple to use and after a practice session and some game-viewing rides on the
easier trails, you will be able to manage many of the more challenging sections. If you have sufficient skills and
inclination, we can also offer some very challenging sections that include steep, rocky hill climbs and difficult
forest sections.
Each trip requires us to take the ATVs /
Quadbikes and equipment from our base at
Bujagali to Lake Mburo. Depending on traffic
conditions in Kampala this trip can take around
10 hours passing through Jinja, across the River
Nile, through Kampala and west through
Masaka and including stops for lunch and
breaks along the way. We enter the park at
Nshara Gate. Along the way, we cross the
equator and travel through some beautiful
parts of Uganda. We use an air-conditioned
Toyota van with large amounts of legroom and
plenty of space for luggage.
SAFARI COSTS - We can email you a spreadsheet with details of the costs. To do this we need to know;
number of clients, residential status (for calculation of Park Entry Fees), length of safari (4 or 5 days), and the
lodge that you would like to stay at (see the selection below).
E-mail: Peter Knight at [email protected]
We provide riding equipment; helmets, goggles, & overalls or you may wish to use your own riding gear. You
will need to bring closed footwear (preferably ankle high boots) and wet-weather gear. We also provide meals,
bottled water and snacks while on safari and while travelling to and from Lake Mburo. Other meals will be
provided by the lodge where you are staying. Situated almost on the equator but at 1200m above sea-level
you will only need a minimum of warm clothing. The average temperate during the day is around 26° C - 16° at
night.
