Dear Families and Friends of Christ Lutheran School,
Many of us will take or have already taken the time today to stop and reflect
on this sad anniversary. Let’s also take the time to pause for prayer – thanking God
for keeping us safe from further attacks, for giving us the men and women of our
armed forces who fight for our safety and freedom, and for blessing us with our
wonderful country. May God bless America!
Now, the news…
Mr. Janke would like to apologize for being a day late with our first “Sub Tuesday” order forms. They
were to have gone out yesterday, but the Cousin’s Sub manager was unavailable. These orders are due back on
Monday! No late orders can be accepted – since the orders are driven over to Cousins right after school. Our
“Sub Tuesday” is Tuesday, September 16th. Enjoy! (Mr. Janke is looking for a volunteer to drive to the
Muskego Cousin’s Sub shop on Tuesday to pick-up the order. Please let him know if you are interested in
helping.)
Speaking of great things to eat, don’t forget that tomorrow is our first hot lunch day of
the year! Your child ordered and paid earlier this week! Enjoy the “don’t pack a lunch” day!
An important September calendar change has been made! Please note that – due
to our church picnic on Sunday, September 21st – the school children will not be singing!
We will have the whole school singing on Sunday, September 28th – not just the 5th – 8th
graders as it says on the calendar. So, no singing for anyone on the 21st, and the whole
school sings in both services on the 28th. Thank you for your understanding and
cooperation with this calendar change.
You are all invited to our PTO Pit Crew meeting this coming Monday, September 15th. We’ll begin the
evening with a fascinating presentation on internet safety – brought to us by officers from the Waukesha County
Sheriff’s Department. Their PTO presentation is for adults only and is scheduled to begin at 6:30 P.M. At 7:30
(or, immediately after the internet presentation) we will hold our Pit Crew portion of the meeting, discussing
and making decisions about things like Pumpkin Patch, Caribbean Night, our Pie / Chilly supper during Lent,
our Crusader sports basketball season kick-off night, our brownies and
juice service following our Advent worship and more. We need lots of
volunteers to help carry out these awesome activities, so please join us
for PIT Crew on Monday evening! You’ll be glad you did!
We are happy to report that the September profit for SCRIP was $149.00. This brings our SCRIP total
to date to $878.52. Thank you for your support! Please watch for the next order at the end of the month.
--- More News on Back ---
Recently, Mr. Janke had a discussion with Big Bend’s chief of police in regards to sex offenders in the
school’s neighborhood. This conversation was shared with our Board of Education who felt it was proper to
remind our school family that the website www.nsopr.gov gives a list of offenders in the neighborhood. We
urge our school family to use this website as we continue to work together at keeping our children safe.
Sixth grader Hannah Weide cruised to a very impressive first place finish in last Friday’s 5th – 6th grade
girls’ cross country race held at Malone Park. This race featured over one-hundred runners! Congratulations on
the great run, Hannah! Sixth grader Alex Erickson also celebrated last Friday, taking second place in the boys’
5th – 6th grade race. Well done, Alex!
Please note that Hannah and Alex would also be the very first to point out that the rest of our Crusader
Cross Country team also did very well. In fact, the 5th – 6th girls’ team took second place team honors for the
day and brought home a very nice plaque! Great job, cross country team! Keep up the super work!
Our runners compete next on Wednesday, September 17th at the St. John’s, Lannon
invitational.
Crusader volleyball games begin next week, with road games on Tuesday the 16th, and
home games on Thursday, September 18th. Join us for the exciting, Crusader action!
Our Pumpkin Patch team met last night. They did want me to pass on a note
reminding you that they are in the process of collecting toys and stuffed animals for the kid’s
corner. Your donations are appreciated!
The school directory will be finished and printed very soon. We’ll be making
enough so that each of our school families may have one. The directories will include
your child’s name, grade, address and phone number, along with parent names and parent
e-mail addresses! These items will be included in the directory unless we hear
otherwise from you! Please let Mr. Janke know of any requested deletions by the end of
school on Friday, September 12th. Thanks! Look for your directory next week!
That’s going to do it for this time! Have a great week, and God’s blessings to you all! Once again,
thank you for your trust, support, cooperation and your prayers! It is a pleasure serving you as parents, a
pleasure working with your children and a true joy to be serving our Lord!
In His Service,
Your CLS Faculty
