1. Maximum two (2) nominations per event. These should be the two fastest swimmers from your
District/Secondary School Trials who have met the South West Qualifying Standards. There are no finals,
selections will be made from times swum in the heats.
2. If a district/school has more then 2 swimmers who have swum a qualifying time at the school/district
carnival, a third swimmer may be nominated IF THE TIME SWUM IS UNDER QSS QUALIFYING. Contact
the RSSO before submitting nominations.
3. District/s who do not forward their nominations by the due date will not have their swimmers included in the
program.
4. Children's date of birth MUST be included in the Meet/Team Manager program. These are necessary for
Regional Selection.
5. All nominations MUST include the times swum by the swimmer at the DISTRICT/ SCHOOL Carnival/Trial.
(i.e. Faster times swum at other meets WILL NOT be recognised).
6. No nominations will be accepted on the day. Districts/schools are reminded to check entry lists before the
carnival.
7. All competitors must be bona fide pupils of affiliated schools.
8. Ages are calculated to the year of birth (e.g. a child born in 2006 is a 10 year old in 2017).
9. Full names (not initials) of individual swimmers must be supplied in all events.
10. The following 10 – 12 Years Districts are invited to compete in the Ray Dale Shield: Balonne
Charleville Chinchilla Cunnamulla Miles Roma Tara
11. To avoid time delay, we would like District/Schools to nominate their All Age Relay Team in order that
these can be printed in the program. This team will be a selection of the four/six fastest swimmers and can
be done at District/School level before the Regional Carnival.
12. Each District/School team must be accompanied by a team manager who is a teacher. Complaints,
protests, scratchings, etc. will ONLY be received from managers who are teachers (i.e. not from parents).
13. The proposed program for the Regional Carnival is enclosed with this information.
14. Would all district secretaries/school convenors ensure that swimmers do not incur too heavy a workload by
competing in all events for which he/she is eligible. It is the responsibility of that swimmer to limit the
number of events in which he/she nominates to those that he/she feels capable of handling in one session
- ie: there is no compulsion on a swimmer to compete in all four (4) strokes.
15. Once nominations have been finalised, a summary of the events will be provided to each district/school.
Please check this summary to ensure events are accurate and inform the RSSO of changes, additions,
and scratchings before the carnival where possible.
16. Team managers are requested to use the form provided for the scratching of competitors. This form, with
all known scratchings, should be presented to officials prior to the commencement of the carnival.
Scratchings will only be accepted on this form. Spare copies will be available on the day.
17. Programs will be sold on the day for $2.00 each.
18. Any competitor who swims under the qualifying time will be eligible for selection in the Regional Team. If
the number of competitors in any one event exceeds the permitted number of nominations (five), the next
fastest swimmers will be nominated within the guidelines of the QSS extra swimmer qualifying times.
19. Students wishing to be considered for selection in events not swum at the SWSS regional trials must
submit a nomination form to the RSSO. These forms to be submitted by the District Manager/School Sport
Coordinator and to accompany the District/school nomination file.
20. Students selected in the regional team will be announced and appropriate forms given to them during the
carnival. There will be a presentation of trophies at the end of the day.
21. Some shaded areas are available for District/Schools use; however districts/schools are encouraged to
bring along extra shading if required.
22. Please advise parents/competitors that they will need to supply their own seating.
23. A list of teachers/parents accompanying teams, and who are able to assist in an official capacity, must be
forwarded to the Convenor on the sheet provided.
