Under 7 Norths took on Magpies white in only their second game for the season. Despite our boys going down 7 tries to 4 they are starting to show some excellent skills on the field. Our try scorers this week are Brock Crocker and Zane Elletson with Zane also being our player of the week. Zane had an outstanding game in both defense and attack. Zane your mum is washing your jersey from now on if you keep tackling like that. A special mention also goes to Jarrod Moore and Oliver Volker both these boys had an excellent game. Coach we can almost smell a victory!!!!!!!!! Are what a difference a week makes in the game of footy. The U14s have regrouped and are building towards the finals. The boys and supporters may look at the score board and say you are kidding but I kid you not ,we are heading in the right direction now. Some set attacking plays learned and enacted on the paddock today against the Premiers will stand us in good stead over the coming rounds. Our attack is just what the doctor ordered to build some confidence and try something a little different. The boys did not toss the towel in this week and I'm sure that they were well pleased at this aspect of the game. I know a few of the cheer squad were impressed at the turn around. In a game where we were outscored 56 to 10 there was plenty of positives and even a little claret spilled for the Devils. Our defence will require some ongoing focus and will be complimented by our ability to attack and share the pill wide. A couple of meat pies and a nice side line conversion from Con provided the points. We were unlucky to have another 3 meat pies ruled no try but what a difference they would have made. A number of our newer boys grew an extra leg today so watch out the Chooks we are coming to get you next week Thank you to dale (u/11) for coaching the 12's this week, the guys really turned it on for him with a 52-6 win. A massive turnaround from last week. I believe a huge improvement in defence lead to this result. There was no stand out players as they all stood up & played as a team, hard to beat when this is the case :) U10 Devils - After a great game last weekend seeing the boys pulling together, spreading out and talking to each other we had high hopes of a replay for R4. Unfortunately the boys get intimidated by Magpies before they even make it to JRL grounds. The Devils this week forgot to spread out and communicate and were slow off the mark and some not so great decisions from the ref doesn’t help any game with frustration on and off the field. Hopefully they can overcome their lack of confidence and bring back the strong Devils power they have when we come up against Wanderers next weekend. Come on Devils we know you can do it! Best player on field went to Bailey Collins and the Encouragement Award goes to Sam Chandler. U10 Norths - This team picked up their game this week and seemed to work well together. The boys worked hard in defence and produced some good runs but again lacked confidence when up against Magpies calling defeat before they play. Well done to Big Tommy Henigan and Big Dylan this week showing Coach Brett they have been listening at training and using their mighty legs to gain ground and bounce the opposition off . Good game boys looking forward to the game next weekend when we vs. Wests. Best player on field goes to, new comer to the game, Ethan Power and The Encouragement Award goes to Big Tommy Henigan. What a difference a week makes. The under 15’s trained the house down this week and on Saturday it showed. The boys heard the message loud and clear, defence, defence, defence. Half time had the good guys up 4 – 0 and fully focused on the second thirty. A try a piece midway through the second stanza and with three to play we’re up by two until the opposition worked their way over under the posts. Kick successful, black and white 12, red and white 8 with ninety seconds to go the script writer must have been a devoted Devil. Kick off, knock on, scrum, tackle one, tackle two, penalty, siren, tap, try, wobbly conversion and flags up. With the crowd on their feet the boys finished deserved winners, 14 – 12. Although we didn’t have a bad player on the weekend special mention must go all our forwards who gave 100% and our inspirational skipper Riley who led from the front and crossed the paint for all three meat pies. Keep the effort up again this week and I’m sure we’ll have more celebrating to do in the weeks to come. Go the Mighty Devil’s. ● ● ● The U16 Devils have sunk to their second loss of the season after going down 54 - 0 against Magpies. The first half didn’t bring much joy to the side, with the Magpies side using their strength to their advantage to pile on a 280 lead. Magpies continued their dominance in the second half, heaping 26 points on the Devils to run out 54 point victors. Even though the score line was out of reach, the boys continued to make every effort for the line and their improvement in their attack and defence was evident from last week. We are proud of the boy’s loyalty and how they continue to hold heads high. We all know how shattering it can be to have try after try put on your team, however the sportsmanship and determination shown over the two weeks will pay off. When you hear these “DEVILS ROAR” you know we have done it. We do not play this weekend so good luck to all the devil teams and I will be back with our report in a few weeks. Thanks Mick & Teenie Our mighty U6’s will be putting in a report will be coming soon. It will be exciting to hear about their games. Under 7 Devils are riding high on their undefeated status after this week’s game!!! We came up against Magpies this week and won 1610! Our 3 Star players of the week were Caylah Baggow, Javen Ramsamy & Jackson Parter. Well done Devils!!!!This week also saw the handover of “The Clipboard” to our new Under 7 Devils Manager, Veronica Parter. Veronica takes over the role from outgoing Manager Kerry Blake. Congratulations on your continued success Under 7 Devils, keep up the fantastic effort!!! UNDER 8 NORTHS This game really saw our boys struggling to find their usual stride and as the game progressed their frustration started to show on the field. Their teamwork and enthusiasm, which usually knows no bounds, seemed a little lost and the boys seemed to struggle to bring it together. Nevertheless they fought a valiant fight and certainly didn't give the Magpies an easy win. They went down fighting with the final score 28 to 12 with tries from Jaxon and Levi and a quick thinking try from Jaidyn. Under 9’s Devils Another win to our Under 9 Devils, despite a “messy game”. There have been a lot of major changes in the game for these young fellas, so they are struggling a little with the basics. Mick will get them back on track!!!!! Fantastic defensive game from one of our newest Devils, Liam Stitt, well done Liam. As always, Squirtle (Zac Springer) had a great attacking game. The boys definitely need to focus on working as a team, especially in their defensive game. Well done boys. Dee This week both our U11 teams played Magpies... Missing a couple of players due to representative football all our boys had plenty of field time. Devils played first and for the second week in a row spent most of the game defending. No points on the board again and I think the boys are feeling a little deflated!!! This week we are going to get some points on the board!!! Some talented boys on this team so we are expecting some major improvements over the next few weeks!! U11 Norths are playing excellent football. A few new boys on this team, some of which have never played football before!! They are giving it everything!! Well done to both our teams!! No score again this week as it doesn't show how hard these boys are working!! GO NORTHS!!! Round 4 saw the team well into the footy season. With 3 boys on holidays and another 3 kids hit by different types of bugs, the team were down 2 players. I would like to thank Kerry and Paul for their contribution of the under 7 kids, of course inclusive of Mrs Veronica Parter :).. Also a special thank you to Noely Crocker, the under 7's coach for his coaching poweress, Marcus Cochrane for his leaguesafing expertise and being their when needed, and to all the parents who helped out!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Rory Blake our fill in, scored the only try for the team, well done Rory!! But our player of the match, because of his awesome runs and awesome defence, voted by the majority, is Balin Burnett!! Well done Balin, your an awesome asset to the team, it is well deserved. Final score - 4 Norths Devils, 26 to Magpies. Well done team and the fill ins!! Can't wait for this week :) U13 were defeated 38-8 in a hard fought game on the weekend. After drawing against Magpies in last year’s grand final the boys were keen to show they were the stronger side and even though they went down Coach Richie is happy to see that the hard work they all put in at training is paying off. Tries were scored by Jack Anderson & Tommy Irelandes. Norths U9’s boys had a great game against Maggies White and worked so well as a team spreading out and passing we won 30 – 0 was a fantastic job done by the boys.
