There is a Financial Aid Seminar from 6:00 – 9:00 in the computer lab on Tues, Feb 19. If your parents need help completing a FAFSA application, this would be the night to receive it. If they have already filed their tax returns they will need to bring that with them…if they haven’t, they can fill it out using last years’ returns and then they can go back and make changes to the application after they do file. Book Club: Meetings for Blank Confession will be Tuesday, Feb 5 at 7:30 and 3:15. The meetings for Chasing Brooklyn will be Wednesday, February 6 at 7:30 and 3:15. All meetings will be held in the HS library. Prom: The date for Prom this year is Saturday, April 20. The FFA Petting Zoo is Friday, February 22nd. Random Acts of Kindness: Feb event is Thurs, Feb 21 in Mrs. Schwab’s room immediately after school until 4:00. Cookie Grams: FCCLA is selling cookie grams before school in front of the trophy case. Cookie Grams are $3 each and all proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association. SPORTS Reminder: The spring sports season is rapidly approaching. Please remember that you need to get your $20 activity fee in if you plan to play a spring sport. You also will not be allowed to begin practices if you do not have a 2012-13 sports physical on file. Banner Dedication for Volleyball, Boys Cross Country and Boys Track will take place Fri, Feb 8 between JV and Varsity games. Winter Sports Banquet: Sun, Mar 17, 6:00 PM at the Lion’s Hall. Spring Sports Pictures – Wed, March 27 Boys Basketball: Varsity plays in the second round of the SoBoCO Tournament tomorrow at 6:00 PM. 9th, JV and V travel to Eugene on Tuesday, Feb. 5 for 5:00 PM start. Senior Night is Thurs, Feb 7. JV boys tip at 5:00 with Varsity Girls to follow. Varsity Boys play last. On Friday, Feb. 8, JV and V host Russellville – 6:00 PM tip. Freshman boys and girls host SoBoCo on Sat, Feb 9 with a 10:00 AM tip. Girls Basketball: Varsity plays Linn (7) tonight at 7:30 in the second round of the SoBoCo Tournament. Academic Awards Night is April 24 - If you want to be recognized for scholarships you receive from colleges, you need to keep Mrs. Mueller posted. Make sure you keep track of every scholarship you apply for – you will need that list. GUIDANCE NHS Applications: The NHS Eligibility lists are posted around the school. To be eligible to apply, a sophomoresenior must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25. If you have the GPA and would like to apply, pick up the application and initial by your name in Mueller’s office. Then complete the form and return to Mueller by Tues, Feb 12. If your name isn’t on the list and you have a 3.25 cum GPA, see Mueller immediately. If you picked up an application, make sure you have initialed the list in Mrs. Mueller’s office. Juniors – If you plan to attend Nichols next year for the first time, stop by Mrs. Mueller’s office to pick up an application. Complete it and return it to her by Feb. 1. Majoring in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equip Repair? Apply for the Kansas City Associated Equip Distributors scholarships. Four $1000 scholarships will be awarded. Must have a 2.5 GPA.
