Description:
Tall Ships Charleston is proud to present its Official Poster Competition. Artists who are
18years or older may submit original works for the consideration in the Tall Ships
Charleston 2017 Official Poster Design Contest. Designs will be judged by a panel
representing both the maritime and art communities and should reflect Charleston's rich
maritime history while also featuring attributes that reflect Charleston’s modern harbor.
The poster committee is looking for an image that captures the look and feel of the
weekend celebration, with its blend of international Tall Ships, classic wooden boats, family
boatbuilding, children’s activities and celebration of all things related to the sea. The poster
design should include the event name Tall Ships Charleston 2017.
Prize Details:
The winner receives a $1,000 cash prize, recognition as the Official Poster Artist.. In
addition, the winning poster design will be showcased as both a commemorative poster
and a promotional poster showcased in store fronts throughout the Southeast to promote
the event. The design will also be used for official retail merchandise and nationwide
advertisements. If selected as the winner, we ask that you attend a reception during Tall
Ships Charleston (May 19-21, 2017) to autograph merchandise showcasing the winning
design. Reception date/time TBA.
If my design is chosen, I understand that it will become the exclusive property of Tall Ships
Charleston and I will receive a $1000 cash prize from Tall Ships Charleston. I further
understand that no other cash or considerations will be provided as a reward or prize from
either Tall Ships Charleston or The Post and Courier, LLC.
Evening Post Industries employees and their immediate families members are not
eligible to participate in the Tall Ships Charleston official poster contest.
Tall Ships Charleston shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless The Post and Courier, LLC,
Evening Post Industries, its officers, directors, shareholders, employees and agents from
and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, causes of actions, costs or
expenses including reasonable attorney’s fees, asserted or incurred, arising from or
relating to, whether directly or indirectly, any act of omission of Tall Ships Charleston
relating to any activities of these events.
Eligibility:
Open to all artists 18 years and older.
Entry:
To enter, artist must complete the attached form and send along with their mounted artwork no
later than February 21, 2017. To enter, artists must submit an application with their mounted
artwork no later than Friday, February 24, 2017. Entry into the competition is free.
Once submitted, all entries become property of Tall Ships Charleston. If my design is
chosen, I understand that it will become the exclusive property of Tall Ships Charleston and
I will receive a $1000 cash prize from Tall Ships Charleston. I further understand that no
other cash or considerations will be provided as a reward or prize from either Tall Ships
Charleston or The Post and Courier, LLC.

Entries should consist of the following:
1. Complete entry form
2. All media acceptable; winner to be reproduced & printed by 4-color process. Overall size
should not exceed36 x 36 inches- suggested is 24 x 36, mounted on foam core. Vertical
orientations (where the overall width is smaller than the overall height) are recommended
-keep in mind the proportions of a T-shirt and promotional poster).
