NORTHERN ARIZONA UNIVERSITY
STUDENT TAILGATING POLICY 2016
The NAU tailgating policy is intended to provide everyone with an enjoyable and
safe environment while attending Lumberjack Athletic events. The Department
of Athletics in conjunction with ASNAU and the NAU Police Department hope
that you will enjoy yourself, while respecting the rights of others. NAU reserves
the right to modify these rules at anytime for the safety and effective
administration of the event.
In order to tailgate, STUDENTS WILL FOLLOW THE RULES AND REGULATIONS
GOVERNING TAILGATING FOR NAU ATHLETICS.
1. Prior to NAU Athletic events, your group must: Complete a Permit Application,
be in good standing in accordance to the Student Code of Conduct, and submit
application to the ASNAU Office by 5:00PM ON THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE
THE GAME.
2. Each group is REQUIRED to have a person designated as the group liaison who
will be on-site throughout the entire tailgate. This person will be required to:
register the group, accept the responsibilities of their party’s actions, and assist
the ASNAU staff with issues that may arise.
3. Tailgating times are as follows:
a. Set up may start 3 hours prior to the game time, depending on the
game date.
b. Tailgating must end 15 minutes prior to kick-off.
c. All tailgating members must leave the tailgate area by kick-off.
The permit is required to be on-site at all times and available upon request by
the ASNAU staff.
4. Grills will be allowed in the tailgate lot. Groups must place something (plywood,
metal pan, etc.) underneath your grill to catch grease. Dumping of any waste
or grease is not allowed and may result in eviction from the site and future
tailgating.
5. Alcoholic beverages must be in plastic cups, plastic bottles or aluminum cans.
Glass bottles are not allowed on the premises. In addition, NO KEGS, BEER
BONGS, OR ALCOHOLIC DRINKING GAMES ARE ALLOWED. The group will be
held responsible for the serving of beverages to individuals of the appropriate
age. It is important to remember that serving alcohol to minors is against the
law and violators are subject to prosecution. Becoming intoxicated is not what
tailgating is all about. The tailgating liaison is responsible for behavior and
actions of their tailgating members.
6. All students consuming alcohol must be wearing a “21 and up” wristband,
granted at the designated ASNAU area.
7. Selling of anything is prohibited. This policy will be strictly enforced and only
NAU Athletics, or their designated representatives will be allowed to sell
merchandise. The groups, for their own consumption, may provide food and
drinks.
8. Student tailgate is restricted to lot P66A, East of Pine Ridge, unless otherwise
designated. ALCOHOL MAY NOT BE TAKEN FROM THE DESIGNATED
TAILGATING AREA.
9. Each group is responsible for cleaning up after the event. Failure to do so will
result in charges to clean the area being billed back to the liaison’s LOUIE
account and possible suspension from further tailgating.
10.
The fee for not cleaning the tailgating spot is $50.00 per spot.
11. Any violations of the NAU rules and/or regulations may render this permit null
and void and may result in eviction from the site and from future tailgates.
I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE TAILGATING POLICIES AND WILL
ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ACTIONS OF THE GROUP:
