Definition Suppose {Eα | α ∈ I} is an arbitrary collection of sets. These
sets are said to be pairwise disjoint if for every pair of distinct elements α, β ∈ I,
we have Eα ∩ Eβ = ∅.
Remark
The synonym mutually disjoint is also used.
