The purpose of this document is to outline our product strategy for driving content discovery and
usage. This is a living, working document to support internal discussions, roadmap project planning,
and customer communications. Please see date stamp below for versioning information.

Product overview
The eCases Collection is an annual selection of serial case available for institutional subscription. The
eCases Collection is made up of two proprietary journals – Emerging Market Case Studies & The
CASE Journal – in addition to 3rd party collections of case studies. This document outlines our current
participation in library discovery and usage. Additional information can be found in the Emerald
Support Services.
Metadata
Standards-compliant metadata for the eCases Collection are made available in a variety of
bibliographic and full-text formats to customers and intermediaries, in order to enable content indexing
and discovery across a variety of information channels (see partnerships and open-web below for
more detail).
The eCases Collection utilizes the following persistent identifiers:


DOIs are deposited with CrossRef for all individual cases
ISSNs are assigned to the cases collection and individual case publications, as outlined in the
table below

Library Customer Recommendations
As noted above, eCases participates in all major services which provide discovery, access control,
and administration to higher educational and institutional libraries. In addition, we are working with
these providers to offer configuration and set-up guidelines, coming in 2017.

We are also working to share highlights of the above via public customer help pages.
In addition, we would like to recommend the following best practices for discovery and usage of
Emerald case studies within customer libraries:




Include eCases in their OPACs (via MARC records)
Ensure eCases is set up correctly in library discovery and knowledgebase services
Add OpenURL and proxy server locations to account in Literatum admin tool
Activate Google Scholar library services
