ALL Swimmers MUST have the following items before they can compete
at the Summer Games Trials
1) A Cheque for Trials - Entry fees are $6.75per event, cheques made out to
Young Aquatic Club.
2) A Cheque for Summer Games Participation - $50.00 made out to Swim
Alberta (Cash will NOT be Accepted). Cheques are kept until team selection is
finalized. Once selected they will be destroyed unless you have provided
instructions of where it needs to be returned.

Eligibility: The status of the meet will be OPEN, Regional. All swimmers must be
currently registered with Swim Alberta and reside in Zone 7 as defined by
Alberta Summer Games Boundaries.

Meet Rules: Current SNC and FINA rules shall govern the meet. SNC warm up
procedures will apply. FINA one start rule will be in effect.
Age Groups:
 Category 1: Swimmers born in 1999
 Category 2: Swimmers born in 2000
 Category 3: Swimmers born in 2001
 Category 4: Swimmers born in 2002
 Category 5
o Para Swimming Classes S1-S14
o Or Special Olympic Swimmers born 1992-2002
Swimmer Affiliation:
Before athletes can enter into the Zone 7 Trials Competition(s), athletes must be
registered as a swimmer with:
 The Alberta Summer Swim Association (ASSA)
 A recognized Swim Alberta Year Round Swim Club
 Swimmers not registered with either of the above can purchase an affiliation
membership with Swim Alberta for $15.00. This fee will allow the swimmer to
participate in the Alberta Summer Games and the Zone 1 Selection Trials
Competitions. Please contact Swim Alberta at (780) 415-1780
Swimmer Selection Process:
Only the identified swimmers, who have submitted fully completed Games Forms and
have made full payment, will be eligible for selection process. If you cannot attend
Summer Games Trials but have a registered online time you can still apply to make team
without showing up to event as long as the paper work is filled and sent in ahead of time.
Category 1 – 4
Selection Events: 100 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 I.M., and 400 Free. Only
these individual events will be used to select the Zone 7 Team.
Aggregate Points:
First place = 5 points
Second place = 3 points
Third place = 1 point

First Round Selection
- The top three swimmers in each category based on aggregate points will be
selected.
- Should there be a tie for third and/or alternate positions, the second round
selections will follow.
 Second Round Selection
NOTE: If you cannot attend Summer Games Trials but have a registered online time
you can still apply to make team without showing up to event as long as the paper
work is filled and sent in ahead of time.

In the event of a tie, the swimmer with the greatest number of higher rankings
will be selected. (eg most first place rankings, then the most second place
rankings.)
Should rankings not break the tie, the swimmer ranking first or second in 100
Free, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breastroke and 100Fly will be totaled. This is for
all Categories 1, 2, 3 & 4.
Should any of the above not break the tie, then we will go with the highest
single FINA point swim to do so.
Category 5
Swimmers will be ranked by gender using the SNC Para-Swimmer charts. The total of
the top three performances will be used to determine rank. Special Olympic Athletes will
be ranked using the S14 (Cognitive disability) chart.
Note: this is the same as the fill policy. These results must be submitted after the event
for all alternates.
IT IS ASSUMED IF YOU SUBMIT YOUR NAME AND RACE FOR ZONE TEAM
POSITIONS AT TRIAL COMPETITION YOU WILL ATTEND THE GAMES IF
SELECTED
Coaches: If you are wanting to be a Zone Coach please click on the link and fill
out the Coaching application for the Summer Games. If there is or more male or
female coaches in same zone available they may be asked to coach in another

Seeding will be slowest to fastest based on entry times. All events are timed
finals.
Entries: Swimmers may enter a Maximum of (3) Individual Events. Entries must
be submitted online at www.swimmeet.ca
Deck Entries will not be permitted.
Entry Fees: Entry fees will be $6.75 per event. All cheques are made payable to
“Young Aquatic Club”.
Entry Rules: No-Time (NT) entries will not be accepted and estimated times may
be submitted. Entry times must be in Short Course meters, Long Course times
may be converted using Hy-tek. Late entries will not be accepted after the
deadline.
Deadline: All entries must be received by 11pm Monday May 26th, 2014. If
swimmer is part of a Swim Team, please have coaches download swimmers into
Hy-tek once meet is sanctioned and posted. Individual Entries can be sent to:
