Overview
Aims and priorities
The PAX Rising grants program offers grants to Victorian-based games
businesses that have been accepted into the 2017 PAX Rising.
PAX Rising is the most popular area at PAX AUS. It is an opportunity to
demonstrate new releases to players, media and industry representatives. There
are two types of stalls: PAX Rising Pods (for small studios and individuals) and
PAX Rising Premium Booths, aimed at larger studios (defined as those with more
than five full time employees).
PAX Rising grants are designed to assist businesses with the cost of the stand,
staffing, incidentals and producing merchandising and promotional materials.
Eligibility
For your application to be eligible you must be able to answer yes to the following
questions:
1. Are you a Victorian-based games business that has been accepted into
the 2017 PAX Rising exhibition?
2. Do you have an ABN?
3. Do you agree to display Melbourne International Games Week
promotional material at your stall if you receive funding?
4. Do you agree to complete and submit a brief report to Creative Victoria
after PAX AUS is completed?

$750 for businesses exhibiting in a PAX Rising Pod
$1,500 for businesses exhibiting in a PAX Rising Premium Booth
How to apply
Applying should take you less than 10 minutes.
1. Log into the Creative Victoria Grants Portal from 1 August to 22
September 2017 (if you do not already have an account, you will have to
create one).
2. Start a new application (under “My Applications”) - selecting the following
options:
Program: Strategic Initiatives
Category: Policy and Programs
Funding Round: PAX Rising
3. Follow the prompts and provide requested information.
4. Attach a copy of your PAX AUS acceptance to your application as
Supporting Material.
5. Submit your application by 5pm, 22 September 2017.
Responsibilities
If your application is successful, please be aware that as a recipient of Creative
Victoria funding, you will be required to:

Notify Creative Victoria of any changes. If for whatever reason you pull
out of the 2017 PAX Rising you may be required to refund the amount of
the grant.

Acknowledge the funding support by including the Melbourne International
Games Week “Made in Melbourne” branding and logo as part of your
booth display.

Acquit your grant in Creative Victoria’s online grants portal by completing
an online report on the outcomes of your PAX Rising grant by 28
November 2017. Failure to satisfactorily acquit funding will make you
ineligible for future Creative Victoria funding and may result in action to
recover the grant.
Please note that conditions of funding will be detailed in a common funding
agreement.
