CREW LEADER

The City of Conway is accepting applications for the position on Crew Leader. This position
performs difficult skilled work overseeing and supervising the maintenance, repair or
construction of street and storm sewer and appurtenances; does related work as required. Work is
performed under the regular supervision of the Public Works Director. Supervision is exercised
over the work of maintenance workers and motor equipment operators. Responsibilities include
operating motor grader, backhoe, track hoe, bucket truck, front-end loader, bulldozer, tractor,
cement mixer and related equipment; operates laser equipment for pipe and grade work; assists
with pipe and drainage installations and landscaping projects; operates jet vactor and rodder
truck to maintain drainage system; operates asphalt packer, pours and repairs sidewalks and
curbs; operates herbicides sprayer; operates other equipment as assigned; services cleans and
makes minor repairs to equipment; performs preventative maintenance work on equipment;
maintains, grades and levels dirt roads.
Minimum Experience and Training: Any combination of education equivalent to graduation
from high school and considerable experience in the maintenance, repairs and/or construction of
street and storm sewer including some supervisory. Must be skilled in the use of laser & other
measuring devices; ability to assign and supervise the work of street and storm sewer workers
and equipment operators; ability to prepare simple reports. Must possess a valid South Carolina
CDL driver’s license with appropriate endorsements.
Entry level pay for this position is $33,284.00 ($16.01 per hour)
