2. Team Basics
Forming a Run for Her ® team is a great way to enhance an already
incredibly meaningful experience. Teams come in all sizes, from two
participants (the minimum) to over 200. The support of your team
makes training and fundraising easier and multiplies the fun, the
laughter, and your impact on the fight against ovarian cancer. It is also
an excellent opportunity for all small and large companies and
organizations to promote camaraderie outside the work environment.
3. Easy Steps to Start a Team
1
Go to the www.runforher.com home page.
2
Select the city you would like to participate in.

Click “Register.”
4
Agree to the waiver.
5
Click “Start a Team.”
6
Enter your team name, recruiting goal, etc. (Note:This information
can be updated at any time.)
7
Once you complete this section, you will be directed to the
“online registration form” page. Complete the form.
8
You have now completed the registration process.
9
A confirmation email will be sent to you.
10
A team web page will automatically be created for you with sample
emails that you can personalize with photos, text, etc. Access your
team page by logging in to “My HQ” on the upper-right corner of the
home page.
Have questions? Need help? Contact the Run for Her Team Coordinator,
Marina Gudelman, at (323) 866-6250 or [email protected].
4. Team Member Registration
To be included on your team’s roster, each member must either register
with your team name online or complete a registration form listing your
official team name. Entry forms must be received by mail no later
than Friday, November 7, 2014! After that, it will be necessary to register
at a packet pick-up location or on-site on the day of the event. On-site

5. Team Captains
Being a Team Captain is easier than you think! The Team Captain plays a
key role in team building, fundraising, motivating, and creating a fun and
memorable experience for your team.
For larger teams, we suggest that you assign a Co-Captain who will receive
the same correspondence as the Team Captain. The Co-Captain may help
communicate information to team members, recruit more team members,
and help team members with their fundraising efforts.
6. Team Fundraising Goal
team
fundraising
Donations and pledges are key to furthering the fight against women’s
cancers. Though it is not required, we suggest that teams set a minimum
goal of $250 per member.
7. Team Fundraising Awards
Special awards will be given to the top three Run for Her® fundraising
teams and the top three largest Run for Her teams. Contributions,
including corporate matching gifts, must be received by Friday,
November 7, 2014, to be included in your team’s fundraising total for the
top fundraising awards presented on event day.

8. Fundraising Online
Registration is just the beginning! Fundraising online is easy and fun!
Remember that raising money is the key to furthering the fight against
ovarian cancer. A great way to spread the word and raise money is by
following Run for Her® on Facebook and Twitter:
facebook.com/runforher
twitter.com/#!/runforher
The Run for Her website also has many tools to help support your
fundraising efforts.
All contributions, including corporate matching gifts, must be received by Friday,
November 7, 2014, to be included in your team’s fundraising totals.
9. My Team Page
When you register your team, a Team Page will be created. We encourage
you, as Team Captain, to personalize your Team Page. Encourage your
team members to personalize their fundraising page.
Each registered Run for Her team has a Team Page to assist the Team
Captain. To access your personal and Team Page, go to“My HQ” and log in
with your username and password.
The Team Captain can personalize the Team Page or Personal Page by
writing why you Run for Her, the team fundraising goal, and a picture of
last year’s team or a photo of a loved one, if available.
The Team Captain can:
Edit and preview team pages.
Select and update personal fundraising goals.
Send mass emails automatically from address books for personal
and team solicitations.
Access current team member reports.
Motivate team members to spread the word and raise funds.
The web page is updated nightly to reflect any fundraising completed by
team members. For security reasons, only the Team Captain can
access the administrative portion of the team website. Please make
sure you activate your Team Page and update any information about
you or your team that might help us in the Run for Her office. If you
have any questions, please contact the Run for HerTeam Coordinator,
Marina Gudelman, at (323) 866-6250 or [email protected].

10. Team Correspondence
The Run for Her® Team Coordinator will send the Team Captain the most
up-to-date event details prior to the event. As much information as
possible will be emailed to you to keep you well informed. Please
update your team page profile with current email addresses and contact
information. Team Captains need to forward information to team members in a timely manner.
11. Team Spirit
We encourage you to find ways to increase your team’s bond and express
your team unity and spirit by designing team T-shirts, dressing alike, or
bringing your own signs. We ask that teams remember that the Run for Her
5K Run and Friendship Walk attracts many families and a wide array of
individuals. Please be considerate of others. No expletives or other offensive
language or images should be used. If you have any questions, please
check with the Run for Her Team Coordinator, Marina Gudelman, at
(323) 866-6250 or [email protected].
12. Team Lounge
There will be a Team Lounge at the Expo near the main stage where you
can meet your team members and pick up your team sign before heading
up to the start line. Teams will be able to personalize the Team Sign. Get
as creative as you’d like, write your team name, place a team photo — the
possibilities are endless. After crossing the finish line, visit the Team
Lounge to spend time with your team members and enjoy a great view
of the stage festivities. And remember to take a team photo!
Teams will be able to personalize the Team Sign. Write your team name,
put up photos, or get as creative as you would like.

13. Team Building and Fundraising Ideas
The Team Captain plays a crucial role in team recruiting and fundraising.
Here are some fun and easy tips on how to help build your team and gain
more support for the cause:
Email
family, friends, and co-workers with why you are participating in
Run for Her®, details on how they can get involved, and why it is important.
Send
update emails to your team to keep the energy and momentum
going from start to finish.
Halloween isn’t the only time to wear a costume — ask your team members
if they want to dress up on event day as a way to creatively show team spirit!
See
if another team or business would accept a challenge to see who can
recruit the most team members or raise the most money.
If you are getting married or have a birthday coming up, consider asking
your reception/party guests to make a donation to your team in lieu of a gift.
Have
supporters who live far away, have other plans, or just want to sleep
in? Encourage your friends and family to register as a Sleepwalker and
be part of Sleepwalkers Around the World™. Learn more here.
Invite
the Run for Her Team Coordinator to speak at your place of
business to encourage participation. Contact Marina Gudelman at
(323) 866-6250 or [email protected] to schedule a time.
Produce your own team T-shirts

us on Facebook and Twitter, and ask your friends to follow, too.
Never
miss an opportunity to let everyone know that you are training
to run/walk a 5K. When they ask why, the conversation door has been
opened. Take this opportunity to tell them why you participate in
Run for Her. Let them know what your fundraising goal is and then ask for
a donation. This is a great opportunity to educate your community and
fundraise at the same time.
The
Power of 10. Ask 10 friends to donate $10 each to reach a fundraising
milestone of $100! Think of the local community impact that $100 dollars
from each participant could achieve!
Give
your close friends donation forms and ask them
to get donations for you.
Tribute donations.
Encourage people to make their
donations“in honor of,”“in support of,” or “in memory
of” someone they know who has been affected by
ovarian cancer or any other cancer. This is a great way
to let them feel very much a part of your experience.
Don’t
forget about Fourth of July, Labor Day weekend,
and any other special events or outings. Bring your
donation forms and a donation jar — ask everyone in
attendance.

ovarian cancer and fewer than 20 percent of cases are caught early.
I’m personally asking you to join my team in an effort to raise critical funds for ovarian cancer research and to increase
much-needed awareness about the disease. Our team’s fundraising goal is $ _________________. Our team member
recruitment goal is ____________. Run for Her is a day of hope, a day of courage, a day full of strength, and a day to
gather with your family and friends. You can run, walk, or Sleepwalk — every step is a vital step in this fight.

by registering as a Sleepwalker, and you will receive an official Run for Her Sleepwalkers Around the World™ T-shirt,
Run for Her socks, and a run/walk event bib in the mail.
