2017 Member-Guest
Event Format, Rules & Schedule of Events
Thursday, June 15th, Friday, June 16th & Saturday, June 17th
FIELD
The tournament is open to the first 48 teams to register for guaranteed entry. Thereafter, participants
will be placed on a waiting list if a spot should come available we will add teams to balance flighting,
not to exceed 60 teams total.
FORMAT
The format will be a two-man best ball net match play. Participants will play their own ball
throughout. The lower of each team member’s net scores will count as the team score for that hole.
In the event that a player has an odd 18 hole handicap, the player will receive his final stroke by being
allocated a half stroke in their 9 hole match. There will be five scheduled matches for each team
within their respective flight.
After the completion of all five matches, each Flight Winner’s will compete in a shootout to determine
the overall Champion.
TEES
Men ages 60-74 may play White Tees. Men 75+ may play Red Tees. All other players will play Gold
Tees.
SCORING OF MATCHES
There will be a total of 10 points awarded for each match. 1 point is awarded for each hole won and ½
a point for a tie on a hole. 1 bonus point will be awarded for the winner of the match. If the match is
tied, each team will receive a ½ point bonus.
SPECIAL NOTE
A maximum of 7 points will be awarded for winning any one match. A minimum of 3 points will be
awarded for any losing match. This is intended to keep all teams in the flight competition after all five
matches.
PLAYING “PAR”
If a team is in a flight with less than six teams, a match with “Par” will be played.
FLIGHTS
The number of flights will be determined by the total number of participants. All flights will contain
six teams. Teams will be seeded and placed in their flights in their respective order by taking the
combined team 18-hole handicap index of the two players on each team and subtracting half the
difference. If ties need to be broken, the “A” player’s indexes will be used and the lower of the two
will be seeded in the lower flight. Handicaps will be determined by the June 1, 2016 GHIN Handicap
update.
FLIGHT WINNERS
The team in each flight with the most points after completion of the 5 matches will be declared that
Flight’s winner. In case of a tie in any flight, the winner of the tie will be the team with the most
points played between the two teams. If a tie still exists a match of scorecards will be done on that
match, starting on the #1 handicap hole on that side.

Appeals
If there is any question on a rule, a player will announce his intention and may play two balls from the
point in question and play out the hole using both balls. The Tournament Committee will make a
ruling after the match. The Tournament Rules Committee consists of Brent Ratliff.
Scoring
Teams will switch scorecards with their opponents. The result of the match will be turned in to the
scoring area immediately following the completion of the round. To ensure that accurate scores are
kept and that results are accurate, each team will be asked to submit their official scorecard. We ask
that each team complete their scorecard by filling in the Point Total section with the points won by the
team named on that card. The scorecards will also be signed by the scorer and attested by their
opponent.
Rain Policy
In the event of rain, players are to continue to play their matches until they are told to discontinue play
by a member of the golf staff. If dangerous weather is threatening the participants, the players may, at
their discretion, leave the course.
Distance Measuring Devices
Policy for use of distance measuring devices for this event will be consistent with the clubs local ruling
such that a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If a
player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that
might affect their play, the player is in breach of rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification,
regardless of whether and such additional functions are actually used.
