DADI’S STORY
In developing communities, walking long
distances for water is a daily necessity, and
deprives women of time to earn a living and
children of time to get an education. Furthermore,
drinking unsafe water makes people sick and can
cause death.
Dadi enjoys playing netball with her friends.
14 year old Dadi feels lucky because her
school has safe water and toilets, and that
means more time doing the things she loves
like playing netball with her friends.
“After school I came home to fetch water for
our dinner. Some afternoons I collect shells
from the nearby mangroves for our dinner.”
Dadi, Papua New Guinea
Dadi is proud that she never has to miss school
and dreams of one day looking after her parents.
WaterAid has proudly partnered with Netball
Victoria and the Melbourne Vixens to develop
a connection between women and girls in
Australia and Papua New Guinea, to help give
every girl an opportunity to follow their dreams.

REACH YOUR
GOALS FOR WATER
FUNDRAISING GOAL
Challenge your teammates to
choose one match between 11
and 17 April, and dedicate your
Goals for Water.
Download our print at home
pledge sheet, or ask your team
captain for a pledge booklet.
Ask your friends, family and local
businesses to sponsor each goal
scored during the match to raise
money and help provide lifesaving
safe water to some of the world’s
poorest communities.
Can you imagine not having
safe, clean water to drink
whilst paying netball? It’s hard
to imagine, yet this is the reality
for many around the world.
Ask your friends, family and
local businesses to sponsor
every goal your team scores
during your selected match.
After the match, let your sponsors
know how many goals your team
scored, collect their donations
and add these to your team’s
fundraising tally (or they can
simply visit goalsforwater.org.au
to deposit their donation directly).
For example, if your mum pledges
$5 per goal scored, and your team
scores 10 goals, she will donate
$50 towards your team’s Goals for
Water challenge.
All donations of $2 and over are
tax deductible.
WaterAid is proud to partner with Netball Victoria and the Melbourne Vixens in 2016.

“I’m so excited to get behind
WaterAid’s Goals for Water
campaign in April. I love the fact
that by scoring goals in your
netball match, you and your
teammates can raise money to
help people in some of the world’s
poorest communities have access
to safe, clean water
– that is something we can all
be proud of within our netball
community.”
Liz Watson, Melbourne Vixens
player and WaterAid Ambassador
WHY YOUR
GOALS COUNT
THE IMPACT
Safe water is essential for life and good
health, yet 650 million people worldwide
don’t have access to it.
Everyone, everywhere should have access
to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.
These basic services underpin health,
education and livelihoods, and are central
to eradicating extreme poverty.
When you participate in Goals for Water
you can help provide lifesaving safe water
for people living in some of the world’s
poorest communities.
WaterAid has reached more than 2 million
people with safe water in the last year, and
over 23 million people since 1981. But there
is still more to do, as 650 million people still
don’t have access to safe water.
MAKE YOUR
The funds and awareness raised through the
Water Challenge will help WaterAid‘s work

programs in our neighbouring countries
