As it Was in the Days of Noah

As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at
the coming of the Son of Man.
As it Was in the Days of Noah
1. People were distracted and secular, not listening to
law or gospel.
2. People were certain that judgment could not happen
today.
3. People will be left behind when the Lord takes his
people home.
For in the days before the flood,
people were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage,
Genesis 6:2
the sons of God saw that the
daughters of men were beautiful, and they
married any of them they chose.
People did not care what God wanted
marriage to be, a wonderful union for life of
two people who shared a common faith in the
promise of the Savior.
Outward beauty was considered more
important than the inner spiritual life.
This is secularism – a total
departure from God and the things
of God for that which pleases
human appetite.
Does this describe life in America
today?
Does this describe me?
Genesis 6:13 …the earth is filled with
violence
According to studies, children from
broken homes are more at risk for drug
abuse and violent crime.
This should not surprise us.
It is no wonder that for more than 100
years the message which Noah brought
of a world about to be destroyed by sin,
fell on deaf ears.
Genesis 6:5 every
inclination of the thoughts of
his (mankind’s) heart was only evil all the
time.
There was no interest in being saved on
the ark, when there was no repentance.
When Christ comes, the world will
be like in the days of Noah, with
people focused on human life and
pleasure and not listening to law or
gospel.
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at
the coming of the Son of Man.
As it Was in the Days of Noah
1. People were distracted and secular, not listening to
law or gospel.
2. People were certain that judgment could not happen
today.
3. People will be left behind when the Lord takes his
people home.
up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and
they knew nothing about what would happen
until the flood came and
took them all away.
When the
time for
judgment
came the
“time of
grace” was
ended.
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at
the coming of the Son of Man.
As it Was in the Days of Noah

2. People were certain that judgment could not happen

3. People will be left behind when the Lord takes his

That is how it will be at the coming of the Son
of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will
be taken and the other left.
In other words, one gets on board the
ark of rescue in Jesus Christ and
another does not.
41
Two women will be grinding with a hand mill;
one will be taken and the other left.
This does not mean that exactly 50%
of people will be saved. Jesus says,
“narrow is the road that leads to life.”
(Matthew 7:14) And he says, “I am the
way.” (John 14:6)
There is only one way that leads to
eternal life and many false ways that
lead to death. Those who follow false
ways will not enter life.
It could even be the day when
you are visiting the replica of
Noah’s ark in Schagen,
Netherlands.
42 “Therefore keep watch,
because you do not know
on what day your Lord will
come.

But
understand
this: If the
owner of the
house had
known at what
time of night
the thief was
coming, he
would have
kept watch and
would not have
let his house
be broken into.

So you also must be ready,
because the Son of Man will
come at an hour when you do
not expect him.
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at
the coming of the Son of Man.
