KC’s Cabin Volleyball League Rules
Welcome to KC’s Cabin 2017 Summer Volleyball leagues. We hope you enjoy your summer with us!

ABSLOUTELY NO OUTSIDE BEVERAGES CAN BE BROUGHT IN. – Your team may risk forfeits if caught

Any possibility of missed matches should be called in as soon as possible so that we can notify the
opposing team. Please call bar at 815-675-2205 followed by a text to Lynn at 847-226-0141.

6. Copy of rules, schedules, standings and tournaments can be found on our website (www.kcscabin.com)
or on our KC’s app (KC’s Cabin). All scores will be downloaded up to 48 hrs after each night of play.
7. ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS IS ALLOWED OUTSIDE. Please help enforce this rule and be mindful that we
are trying our best to provide a safe playing environment.
8. We love children, all children, but we don’t have the resources to babysit yours. If you are playing,
please make sure your kids are safe and not playing on the stage or in the parking lots.
PLAYING RULES
1. A referee’s decision on a call is FINAL. Any questions about a ref’s call can be asked by the captain,
but calls aren’t to be argued; once play has resumed, the past is the past.
2. All games are rally score. Every serve is a point for either team. The first two games are to 25 points
and the third is to 21. There is a cap of 27 points on 25 point games and a cap of 23 on the third game.
Let serves are in play.
3. If your team can’t field the minimum players you can pick up players that are on a waiver and are in
the same division. i.e. Rec, Int, or Comp and as long as you have at least two original team members
on the court.
4. Games will NOT be called due to the inconsistency of the weather during the summer, rain outs will be
called at GAME TIME ONLY!
5. Games may be delayed due to severe weather, if games have already started.
6. “10 ft Rule” – meaning no back row attacking. **For teams with 4 players the server is considered
back row and may not attack.
7. Although we have a NO GIRL Rule. There must be at least 2 females on the court at anytime. ALL
LEVELS!
8. Three games are played every match every week until playoffs.
9. Every team is required to show up and start play on time. If you can’t field a minimum team within 10
minutes of the start time, the first game will be forfeited. You then have an additional 5 minutes for
each of the remaining games before forfeiture. THIS RULE IS STRICTLY ENFORCED
10. A coin toss will be given to determine choice of serve and choice of side. Teams will alternate choice
for the second game, and a coin toss will determine the choice for the final game of each match.
11. A serve can be bumped or set. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO ATTACKING A SERVED BALL, THIS INCLUDES
BLOCKS.
12. First ball over may be set as long as it is not lifted, carried, thrown, held, or rolling off the hands with
spin.
13. The ball must cross the plain of the net before it is contacted by an opposing player.
14. Lifting the ball or playing it with an open underhand lift is considered an illegal hit.
15. A block is not considered a hit, nor is multiple contacts on one block attempt.
16. All contacts must be clean; at no time will a ball be allowed to be held, lifted, pushed, carried, or
thrown. The ball may not roll on or come to a rest on any part of the body.
17. Jump serving is not allowed in any recreational leagues.
18. The whistle will sound for the start of play, if the serve occurs before the whistle, it’s a re-serve.
19. The ball may be played off of ANY part of the player’s body as long as it is not lifted or doesn’t come to
a rest.
20. Simultaneous contact by two players is considered one hit.
21. Players are not allowed to touch the net except for accidental hair contact. Clothing is considered part
of the player’s body. All net violations will be called.
22. Players may go under the net as long as they do not interfere with opposing players, the net, or
interfere with play.
