PLEASE ENSURE ALL ALLEY REFEREES ARE AWARE OF THE
FOLLOWING CUP MATCH LAYOUT AND GUIDELINES
The following are guidelines to explain cup match layouts for 2016/2017 season.
4-a-side
Each team will consist of four players who must not have played for any other 4-a-side team in the
competition. It is possible for a team to substitute a player from one round to the next, but not once the
draw is made on the evening, providing they have not played for another team in the competition. A
draw of all teams present and correct on the night will be made by the alley referee to determine the
order of play. All teams will be placed on the board and play will proceed straight down. The team with
the highest score on the night will progress to the next round. The final, only, will be played on a
knockout basis. The last team drawn on the night will stick up for the first team, and so on to the end of
the evening.
5-a-side (KINGPIN)
Each team will consist of five players who must not have played for any other 5-a-side team in the
competition. It is possible for a team to substitute a player from one round to the next, but not once the

draw of all teams present and correct on the night will be made by the alley referee to determine the
order of play. All teams will be placed on the board and play will proceed straight down. The team with

up for the first team, and so on to the end of the evening.
Pairs
Each team will consist of two players who must not have played for any other pairs team in the
competition. In case of an emergency it is possible for a team to substitute a player from one round to
the next, but in the spirit of the competition this practice is not encouraged. Each pair may be any
combination of male, female, or mixed pairs. A draw of all teams present and correct on the night will be
made by the alley referee to determine the order of play. All teams will be placed on the board and play
will proceed straight down. The team with the highest score on the night will progress to the next round.
The final, only, will be played on a knockout basis. The last team drawn on the night will stick up for the
first team, and so on to the end.
Ladies Open
Provided each female player is registered with the league there is no further restriction on the
composition of each team, which will consist of 6 players. It is possible for a team to substitute a player
from one round to the next, providing they have not played for another team in the competition. Each
match will be played over 8 legs, and the team with the highest score on the night will proceed to the
next round. Sticking up will be shared by both teams and will be arranged by tossing a coin to decide who
sticks up first.
Ladies and Gents Singles
A draw of all teams present and correct on the night will be made by the alley referee to determine
the order of play. All names will be listed on the board and play will proceed straight down as in a
normal game of skittles, and as required, the highest scores will proceed to the next round. The final,
only, will be played on a knockout basis.
And lastly, don’t forget the results! Winners to notify the Cup Secretaries
(Glenn & Aaron Robinson) within 72 hours of the end of the match – failure to do so will
