BEAULIEU SPORTS DERBY
Hockey
Stanford boys and girls took on strong hockey teams from Beaulieu College this past weekend. The boys’ teams played very good hockey but,
unfortunately, never took their opportunities to draw level. Both the u/15 and u/14 teams went down 1-0. The Junior teams have some very promising
players to develop over the next few years. The 1st team game was always going to be a cracker with Stanford having had the upper hand over Beaulieu
in their last few matches. The Stanford side showed their determination right from the beginning, being pitted against very skilful players. The boys
worked hard and kept their defensive structure throughout the game. SLC counter-attacked well and took the chances offered during the game. Half
time score was 2-0 to Stanford, who then went up 3-0 in the second half with Beaulieu scoring a consolation goal at the end of the game.
The girls’ hockey teams enjoyed some notable successes against Beaulieu and displayed some of their best hockey skills this season. The u/15 girls’ team
dominated their game, but were unable to score past a very good keeper. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, but they were, nevertheless, very impressive.
The 2nds also came away with a well-earned draw and unluckily, the u/16 team lost against a good team. The 1st team defended exceptionally well
during their game, showing some great fight. Both teams had a fair number of chances to win the game. It was an impressive game of hockey and a
pleasing result for both teams.

Rugby
Stanford enjoyed a brilliant day on the rugby field, dominating Beaulieu throughout
all the matches. The u/15 team had an impressive win. The boys are playing magic,
skilful rugby at the moment and it will be great to watch their development over the
next couple of years. The 2nd team played a 10’s match and won comfortably,
affording the opportunity for the whole squad to have a chance on the field. The
SLC 1st XV had an exceptional game, playing running rugby and dominating
Beaulieu in the scrums and at the breakdown to record an impressive victory.
Results : 1st XV won 44-10, 2nds won 34-15, u/15 won 60-0

The u/16 team played very
