#ROXREVIEW: The Rox nearly came back against the Larks, but
dropped their 1st game against them this season in a 7-6 loss. NWL AllStar Shane Selman led the charge with his 5th multi-RBI game this summer.
His solo home run in the 9th brought STC within 1 run, but it couldn’t do
anything else. He also drove in a run in the 1st with an RBI single. Drew
Avans also drove in a run with a bases loaded walk, and added another
walk and hit.
ALL-STAR STUD: Selman is continuing his incredible spring through
the summer months. The Southland conference Hitter of the Yearafter batting .333 and hitting a league high 14 home runs in his sophomore season.
After yesterday’s performance Selman now has hits in 19 of his last 20
games, and 4 RBIs in his last 4. His .302 average is the 3rd best on the team,
but is 2nd on the Rox in at-bats (139).
WRAPPING UP THE ROAD: After today’s contest in Bismack, the
Rox will have played 21 of their last 29 games on the road. The Rox record
in that road span is 10-10, with an overall record of 16-12. STC finished
that road slate 10-6 most importantly to win the 1st half Division title.
ONE MORE: The Rox will be back on Tuesday in their first home game
this season against the MoonDogs. There will also be a Rox drawstring bag
giveaway to the 1st 300 kids 14 and under presented by Central Minnesota
Credit Union. It will also be our 1st taco tuesday! Each fan at the game will
receive a certificate for a free taco at taco johns. Tickets are available online
at stcloudrox.com or you can call our ticket office at 320-240-9798 from 9
AM to 5 PM.
LARKS PITCHER: David Manasek (0-0, 4.50 ERA)
Manasek is just making his 2nd start and 3rd appearance for the Larks this
season. In his only other start, he only pitched 4 innings against Willmar
and gave up 3 runs on 3 hits. He also pitched against Duluth on June 29th,
where in 2 innings he allowed 1 hit and walked 2. The righty from Millersville started 11 games this year (12 games) and finished with a 3-4 record.
He also finished with 48 innings pitched (4th on team) and a 5.06 ERA. He
had the 3rd most strikeouts (48) and walks (28) for the Marauders.
