(Player, Coach and Game)
Central Football Federation is seeking applicants for the position of Fustal Development Manager for the
Federation. This full time position will be based in Palmerston North and will play a vital role in developing players
and coaches during the rollout of a national plan which aims to build further on the quality of the fustal/football
experience throughout New Zealand. The Futsal Development Manager position is currently supported by two
part time Futsal Development Officer roles, based in Manawatu and Hawke’s Bay.
The successful applicant will manage and deliver skills coaching (both player and coach), manage the delivery of
community products into schools, be ultimately responsible for the development of the Federation’s national
teams, for fustal leagues across the Federation and for meeting outcomes as determined annually. Training and
support of volunteers is part of the role as is working closely with the Operations Managers and other
development staff in building the game across the Federation.
Applicants will preferably have a minimum of five years experience in player and coach development and be able
to demonstrate skills in working with professional staff, volunteers and other stakeholders and customers.
Communication and team skills are important. A recognised NZ Football coaching qualification is required and
recent Coach Educator qualification preferred.

FEDERATION PLANNING
Coordinates, develops and implements the Federation Coach, Player and Game Development component of the
Futsal Whole of Football Plan (WOFP) and is accountable for the delivery of the work programme across the
Federation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ROLES AND RESPONSIBILTIES SPECIFIC TO THE ROLE
The role entails working within a defined area and involves focussing on the development of structures, systems
and processes to support an improvement in the quality of standards across all areas of the game- player/coach
and game development. This includes but is not limited to following:

Leading the planning, development and implementation of futsal as it pertains to the WOFP.

Effective management, achievement and reporting of WOFP strategies and outcomes

Creating and implement strategies to increase the number of informal futsal coach opportunities and
attendances at such events.

Create a culture for coaching excellence in clubs and schools by delivering the Federation Plans for high
quality coach development opportunities.

Creating high quality player pathways in futsal from recreational and participation opportunities at a
Federation Futsal Centre, regional and national competitive level competition through to national and
international age group elite players.

Developing and leading the National Fustal pathways for youth, senior and women.

Assist in the organising, marketing and successful implementation and running of regional and national
events.

Providing more and better opportunities to improve club/school current practice and to strengthen their
capability in coach development delivery to achieve these improvements.

Effectively manage and assist Federation Fustal staff in achieving their work outcomes.

Create and manage regional competition structures which optomise participation and provide
developmental opportunities.

Increase the opportunities to experience high quality Futsal development programmes across all areas of
the game that will improve technical playing standards.
Supporting the Chief Executive Officer in the development and maintenance of strong commercial
relationships relating to futsal.
Harnessing the support of other Federations, Clubs, Schools, Private Providers, key stakeholders,
supporters and experts in the area of futsal development.



Working with the Injury Prevention team to support the roll out of FIFA 11+ workshops.

Being part of the Federation senior management team actively developing, implementing and overseeing
strategies to improve the quality and quantity of Futsal provision by clubs.

Provision of reports on request of the Chief Executive Officer and/or Football Development Manager.


Continually researching best practice in the area of futsal development.
Undertaking any other duties as may be required from time to time by the Chief Executive Officer and/or
Football Development Manager on an as required basis.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Futsal Development Managers will be specialists in their field and have a full understanding of the processes
underpinning the development of players and coaches at both grassroots and elite levels as well as how to
support clubs and schools in providing a higher quality service to its members and students respectively.

Experience

At least 5 years experience in the area of player and coach development.

Preferably sport development or management experience.

Proven experience in working with professional staff.

Experience in working in partnership with volunteers.

Experience in developing and delivering plans.

Evidence of successfully and positively working with diverse stakeholders and/or customers.
Knowledge

A recognised football coaching qualification and coach educator qualification.

Very good knowledge of football and the club structures in New Zealand.

Preferably, educational qualifications which demonstrate management capability.

A thorough knowledge of grassroots concepts and their application, including trends in grassroots
development.

Preferably sports management or related qualifications.

An understanding of sports science including LTPD principles specific for futsal/football.

An understanding of the wider social and political context in which Federation operates.

An understanding of the place of football in New Zealand.
Skills

Strong leadership and team development abilities, and an ability to motivate skilled professional staff in a
performance focussed environment.

Very good communication and presentation skills.
