Un-Official Rules For GaGa Ball

“Un-Official Rules For GaGa Ball”
1. First and foremost, this is for fun day so we ask that you play
honestly and with good sportsmanship.
2. Teams are made up of 8-12 players but before a game can begin,
each team must have the same number of players. If one team has
more players, they must choose players to sit out and then
switch those players in during the next games. (Games can also
be played as individuals where everyone plays for him/herself
rather than as teams)
3. The judge and referees are the authority during play and are
responsible for settling disputes and ensuring fair play (see Rule
#13 below) All players will play honestly and will call
themselves out if they get hit on or below the knee or cause a ball
to leave the pit
4. Before play can begin players must back against the wall until
both heels are touching the wall.
5. Once players are ready, the ref tosses the ball up in the air and
allowed to bounce twice. Players yell "GA!" on the first bounce
and "GA!" again on the second bounce, and the ball is then in play.
If a player moves from the wall before the ball bounces twice, the
player is warned the first time and play is restarted. The second
time he/she is out.
6. Players hit the ball with their hands only, and may not carry or
throw the ball - it must be hit with open hands or fist. If a player
“carries,” that person will be eliminated.
7. If the ball touches a player anywhere “on” or “below” the knee,
that player is eliminated from the game and must step out of the
pit as soon as possible without interrupting play of the game.
Play does not stop.
8. If the ball goes out of the gaga pit, the last player to touch the
ball with their hands is eliminated.
9. Once a player hits the ball, he or she must wait until the ball
touches a wall or another person before hitting it again. If the
ball is hit twice without touching the wall or another player,
this is a “double tap” and that is eliminated.
10. When there are only two players remaining, play will stop and
both players will put their heels on the wall and the referee will
start the final play.
11. If there are any disputes as to which player should be ‘out’
during a play, a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors will determine the
ousted player.
12. All referee decisions are final!! But remember, we ask that you
play honestly and with good sportsmanship so the referee
doesn’t have to be the ‘bad’ guy!
13. Have FUN!!
