Swedac’s service commitments
Swedac´s service commitments is directed to those who are or want to become a customer. In the service
commitments we are talking about the response times we promise you when you apply for accreditation or
extension of your accreditation.
How to handle your application
You can submit your application either by e-mail or by postal mail.

If necessary, we require supplementary documentation. Within 4 weeks, after the reception of the
complete documentation, a costing will be sent to you.
Within 12 weeks (for comprehensive/complicated accreditations 15 weeks) of the reception of the
complete documentation and an accepted costing an on-site assessment is conducted.
This applies to both new application and application for extension that are not performed in connection
with surveillance visit or reassessment.
Corrective actions and decision
Our report from on-site assessments usually consists of a number of nonconformities, i.e. paragraphs
where the activities do not fulfill the requirements for accreditation. In order for us to make a decision we
need to know which corrective actions will be made, i.e. what the company should do to comply with the
requirements. Which timeframes applicable for the corrective actions depends on if the assessment is a
new application, extension or a surveillance visit/reassessment and how comprehensive and complicated
the accreditation is.

Within four months after our on-site assessment you must let us know what corrective actions you
have carried out.
Within 6 weeks (for comprehensive/complicated accreditations 8 weeks), after the corrective
actions have been received and the application thus is complete in all parts, we shall assess
whether these actions are sufficient and if so, issue a decision on accreditation or extended
accreditation.
For assessment concerning accreditation for the purpose of appointment as notified body, we shall
have assessed whether the corrective actions are sufficient, and the application is complete, within
12 weeks of receiving the corrective actions. If the corrective actions are deemed sufficient, Swedac
issues a decision granting accreditation for the purpose of appointment as notified body or granting
extension of accreditation.
Before a decision to notify a notified body can be taken, Swedac must consult the concerned
authorities. Swedac then takes a decision to notify you and register you in NANDO, usually within 5
weeks of granting accreditation for the purpose of appointment as notified body. If there are no
