Expression of interest (EOI) for salvaging/utilizing
the Fly ash, Bottom ash and the Pond Ash present
in Ash Ponds at RTPS.
Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS), Shaktinagar is a coal based Thermal
Power Station with the installed capacity of 1720 MW (7 units of 210MW
and 1 unit of 250MW).
The plant is strategically located in Deosugur village, Raichur district,
bordering Karnataka State. it is bounded by right bank of Krishna River on
the East, Chennai – Mumbai main railway line on the South, Raichur –
Hyderabad State highway on the North and Private property on the West.
The nearest major railway station is Raichur which is 20km away from the
plant. The nearest airport is Hyderabad international airport which is
180km away. The plant is well connected by air, road and rail network.
The total area of RTPS is 3146 acres, out of which plant area is 1324 acres,
ash pond area is 1165 acres and colony area is 536 acres.
The approx. annual coal consumption is 7.25 Million tonnes and residual
ash is approx. 1.65 Million tonnes.
The ash pond is located adjacent to plant on the right bank of Krishna River.
There are two no’s of ash pond namely ash pond-1 and ash pond-2 the
salient features of the ash pond are as below;

KPCL is presently looking for the avenues/ expertise to explore the
available technology in the field of utilization of Fly ash, Bottom ash and
the Pond ash to salvage the Ash present in the Ash ponds at RTPS in an
environment friendly manner in line with the guidelines of Ministry of
environment & Forest (MoEF), Govt Of India and Karnataka State
Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), hence calling of this Expression of
Interest (EOI).
The interested parties / agencies/ firms/companies may submit their
proposal in technically and environment friendly manner acceptable to
KPCL. It may be noted that submission of EOI does not in any way
constitute any kind of commitment on the part of KPCL. However, this
information can be the deciding factor for short listing the proposals.
The intending parties may visit site and have discussion before
submission of their expression of interest.
BRIEF SCOPE OF WORK:
The Indenting parties should submit their technology/areas/ avenues
available in the field of utilization of Fly ash, Bottom ash and the Pond
ash to salvage the ash present in the Ash pond in an environment
friendly manner in line with the guidelines of Ministry of environment &
Forest (MoEF), Govt. Of India and Karnataka State Pollution Control
Board (KSPCB) acceptable to Karnataka power corporation limited.
They should submit a detailed report on technical and commercial
aspects of their proposal.
The EOI should be accompanied with applicant’s credentials in support
of their technical, financial & infrastructural capabilities.
Following information on adequacy and availability of resources and
expertise to carry out the assignment shall necessarily be provided:
1. Organization Profile.
2. A Technical write-up on approach and methodology proposed to be
adopted for the assignment including deployment of personnel.
3. Details of employees with their experience in related field.
4. Work Experience.
5. Audited Annual Report for last 3 years.
