SERVICE BULLETIN Importance: Regular TERMINATOR SALVATION 42” DELUXE GAME, SN 01000 – 04417 Raw Thrills is issuing an upgrade kit to improve the lifetime of the Infra Red LED’s used in the gun pointing system by turning on and off the LED’s as necessary. The kit is simple to install and should reduce potential service costs and downtime. Cause: The IR LED’s (located above and below the game marquee), when left on all the time, have a shorter lifetime than LED’s that are switched off frequently. Remedy: Add LED control harness p/n CA-3868 and update software (if necessary) to allow control of the LED’s. For Additional Assistance Please Contact Betson Enterprises at 1-800-753-2513 Upgrade Procedure (about 15 minutes to complete) Tools required: Terminator 42” Deluxe software version 1.20 or later (if not already installed) 1. Make sure software version 1.20 or later is installed on the game. In order to determine the software version installed on the game, push the “TEST” button inside the coin door and note the version number on the top-center of the Test Menu screen. 2. If the software version is less than version 1.20, please go to www.rawthrills.com/software or call Betson at 1-800-753-2513 for an update DVD. Then, follow the instructions in the manual for software installation. 3. Disconnect power on the game. Failure to fully disconnect power from the game before servicing could lead to injury or death. 4. Open the rear door of the game cabinet. 5. Locate the harness labeled “GUN SENSORS” located in the bottom of the cabinet. 6. 7. 8. 9. Disconnect the 4-position Molex connectors on this harness. Connect the LED Control Harness between these two connectors. Locate the JAMMA Connector on the JAMMA-USB I/O board. Remove the JAMMA Connector. 10. Identify JAMMA pin position #9. It is located between a grey wire with a red stripe and an orange wire (see photo: note that your game will likely not have numbered positions on the JAMMA connector) 11. Insert the purple terminated wire from the LED Control Harness into JAMMA pin position #9. 12. Reconnect the JAMMA Connector to the JAMMA-USB I/O board. 13. Reinstall the back door on the game and reconnect power. 14. Power up the game and when the game is ready, enter Test Menu by pushing the TEST button inside the coin door. 15. Using the VOL UP/VOL DN, TEST and SERVICE buttons, navigate to the “GUN CAMERA TEST” Menu in the Diagnostic Menu. 16. Confirm that dots (representing the IR LED’s) show up when either gun is pointed at the screen, 17. (OPTIONAL) Some digital cameras and smartphones can see IR light which is otherwise not visible by the human eye. While in the GUN CAMERA TEST, point a digital camera or smartphone at the IR LED’s (located above and below the game marquee). If you see faint lights then your camera can detect IR LED’s. You can then tell if the LED Control Harness is working in-game. Exit to game attract mode and look at the IR LED’s through the camera. They should now be off. When the game starts, the LED’s should turn on.
