2 Annual Bama Brew & Que in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, a KCBS Sanctioned Event!
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th ­ SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th GENERAL INFORMATION: • The 2nd Annual Bama Brew & Que cook‐off is sponsored by the Young Professionals of Tuscaloosa – YP(t) ‐ an affiliate of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama. • The event is open to professional and backyard teams, however at this time we only have a “professional” division. A “backyard” division will be created based upon sufficient interest (see below). There is no limit to the number of cooks per team. • All teams must cook with wood, wood pellets, or charcoal. No electric or gas cooking will be allowed. • This event is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS). Rules and regulations of the KCBS will be followed. • Once your team entry form and full payment have been received, you will receive additional details about the event, including a list of the KCBS rules and regulations. • Registration and set‐up will begin on Friday, September 12th at 8:00 A.M. • ALL CONTESTANTS MUST BE REGISTERED AND IN PLACE BY 5:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th. Based on the KCBS scoring method, the top ten teams in each meat category will be recognized. The top scoring teams will receive monetary awards, as listed below:
PROFESSIONAL DIVISION: GRAND CHAMPION: $1,000 RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION: $500 Per Meat Category: FIRST PRIZE: $300 SECOND PRIZE: $200 THIRD PRIZE: $100 FOURTH PRIZE: $50 FIFTH PRIZE: $25 Sauce: FIRST PRIZE (ONLY): $100 (both divisions, if applicable, will compete together) BACKYARD DIVISION: A backyard division will be added if at least 10 teams send in a registration form, along with appropriate payment, by August 1st indicating they want to compete as a backyard team. Backyard teams will only compete in chicken, ribs, and sauce categories. Monetary awards for backyard division will be half of those paid for the professional division.
EVENT SCHEDULE: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th Registration / Set­up 8:00 A.M. Teams must be in place by 5:00 P.M. Meat Inspection (Upon check­in) All meat will be inspected upon team arrival. No pre‐
cooking is allowed. Cooks Meeting 5:00 P.M. Each team must have at least one member attend the mandatory cooks meeting to review rules and regulations. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th Turn­in / Judging 11:30 A.M. ­ 2:00 P.M. Turn‐in times are as follows: 11:30 A.M. ‐ Sauce 12:00 P.M. ‐ Chicken 12:30 P.M. ‐ Ribs 1:00 P.M. ‐ Pork 1:30 P.M. ‐ Brisket Awards Ceremony 3:00 P.M.

Hold Harmless Clause: The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama will not be held responsible or liable in any way for any losses, costs, damages, liabilities, debts or expenses incurred by the participants of the 2014 Bama Brew & Que cook‐off or their parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, successors, or assigns as a result of any acts, omissions, or negligence of any person, firm, partnership, or corporation attending or participating in the 2014 Bama Brew & Que cook‐off, whether or not the act, omission, or negligence occurs prior to, during, or following the 2014 Bama Brew & Que cook‐off.
