SEATTLE TENNIS CLUB TO HOST THE WASHINGTON STATE OPEN TENNIS TOURNAMENT AUGUST 1‐6, 2017 (CATEGORY II, PNW OPEN CIRCUIT) SEATTLE, WA, MAY 4, 2017 – The Seattle Tennis Club will host the 127th Washington State Open Tennis Tournament on August 1‐6, 2017. This is the 127th year the Club has hosted this event – the only Club tournament which is open to the general public. There is no cost to attend this event. Street parking will be limited with an estimated 10,000 spectators expected to attend the six day tournament. The Blue Angels fly over the Club during the SeaFair Air Show, to the delight of the tournament spectators. Over 500 players are registered to participate in the tournament, with total prize purse of $24,000. The tournament includes Men’s & Women’s Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles events. This Category II tournament (USTA ID # 600001217) is sanctioned by the U.S. Tennis Association. Title sponsors include Ewing & Clark, Inc., Stuart Silk Architects and Badgley Phelps Investment Advisors. The 127 year‐old Seattle Tennis Club is located in Madison Park on the shores of Lake Washington. The members‐only Club sits on roughly eight acres of prime waterfront property and offers its 3,000‐plus private members 19 tennis courts, a fitness center, squash courts, several dining facilities, a swimming pool, beachfront, boathouse and newly remodeled Pro Shop and indoor tennis facilities. The much sought‐after STC banquet facilities cater to numerous weddings each year, as well as many other events, including the Washington State Open, the most prestigious tennis tournament in the state.
